Art and class collide, as a group of Northern English miners unexpectedly ascend to the top of the art world in The Pitmen Painters at ACT - A Contemporary Theatre. Penned by playwright Lee Hall, author of the celebrated Billy Elliot, this critically acclaimed play from London and Broadway receives its regional premiere in ACT's dynamic in-the-round Allen Theatre directed by ACT's Artistic Director Kurt Beattie tonight April 26, and the show is scheduled to run until May 20.

Rhythmic Circus will astound audiences with their innovative tap dancing and musical prowess, leaving everyone dancing in the aisles! Catch this dance phenomenon on Saturday, May 12 at 8pm at The Colonial Theatre. Rhythmic Circus will be followed by an after party with DJ BFG and projections by Drew Suto.

Sideways The Play, adapted by Rex Pickett from his own novel, will play in its world premiere by the Ruskin Group Theatre in Los Angeles, May 18 through July 22, Fridays-Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm. It is the story of two friends - Miles and Jack - and their journey across the Santa Ynez wine country, on one last blowout trip before Jack gets married. Miles and Jack must face their uncertain futures…just as soon as they figure out how to survive their chaotic present.

The Jewish Museum will present Timbalooloo with Oran Etkin on Sunday, May 6 at 2:00 pm. Oran Etkin's whimsical concert for families blends global melodies and rhythms, from the music of Africa to klezmer and jazz. Etkin will play tunes from his 2010 album, Wake Up, Clarinet! and will create musical connections between Africa and Israel in conjunction with the Museum's current exhibition, Kehinde Wiley/The World Stage: Israel. Etkin's interactive performance effortlessly conveys sophisticated concepts in a fun musical language that kids of all ages can understand.

A Contemporary Theatre (ACT) have announced their mainstage season productions are now on sale to the general public for individual ticket purchases. The first two major productions of the season are First Date, a new musical co-produced with The 5th Avenue Theatre, followed by The Pitmen Painters, a regional premiere of the acclaimed London and Broadway play.

Theatre IV announces the return of Seussical the musical, to the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre, running Friday, April 27 through Sunday, May 20, 2012. Based on the work of Dr. Seuss with music and lyrics by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, this production offers a new generation of kids the timeless story of friendship and community. Director, Chase Kniffen, calls Seussical, "the perfect family musical that will both touch and entertain all ages, from four to four hundred." Seussical is one of several Theatre IV offerings in the Minds Wide Open: Virginia Celebrates Children and the Arts initiative.

Parsons Dance returns to the Manhattan Movement and Arts Center from June 6-7, 2012, with a program that includes Round My World, a new piece by David Parsons that debuted at the Joyce earlier this year, as well as the choreographer's stroboscopic masterwork Caught. The West-End production of SWEENEY TODD, starring Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton, will officially open tonight, March 20, at the Adelphi Theatre. As Broadway World previously reported, Jonathan Kent's version of the musical opened in the West End for previews on March 10 following its sell-out success at the Chichester Festival Theatre. The show will feature British comedian Jason Manford as Signor Pirelli for one month while Robert Burt is on leave.
