Syfy Begins Production on THE EXPANSE

Syfy and Alcon TV today announced the start of production for The Expanse, the new 10-episode epic space drama based on the international best-selling book series of the same name. Currently shooting in Toronto, Canada, The Expanse will premiere on Syfy in 2015.

Syfy continues to ramp up its slate of ambitious and high quality scripted series with a straight-to-series greenlight for space-opera project The Expanse, it was announced today by Syfy President, Dave Howe. The 10-episode order is Syfy's boldest new series commitment to date. The Expanse is produced by Alcon Television Group (ATG), a division of Alcon Entertainment, and marks the company's first series order.

Meryl Davis and Charlie White returned from the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, with the United States' first ice dancing gold medal in history. Stars on Ice, featuring Davis and White along with their bronze medal winning teammates from the inaugural Olympic figure skating team event, will visit Giant Center on Thursday, April 10 for a 7:00 p.m. performance.

Meryl Davis and Charlie White returned from the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, with the United States' first ice dancing gold medal in history. Stars on Ice, featuring Davis and White along with their bronze medal winning teammates from the inaugural Olympic figure skating team event, will visit Detroit on Sunday, April 27 for a 4 p.m. performance at Joe Louis Arena; presented locally by AT&T.

This weekend on TODAY, the official morning show of the Olympic Games, Lester Holt, Al Roker and Natalie Morales will host the broadcast live from Sochi, Russia. Erica Hill will be live from New York.

NBC's primetime coverage of the XXII Olympic Winter Games tomorrow, Friday, February 14 at 8 p.m. ET features the men's super combined gold medal final featuring five-time Olympic medalist Bode Miller and reigning world champion Ted Ligety -- the previous two Olympic gold medalists in the event. Also highlighting primetime on Friday is the final phase of men's figure skating -- the free skate -- which combined with the short skate score, determines the Olympic individual men's figure skating champion. The favorites are reigning world champion Patrick Chan of Canada, and this season's Grand Prix Final winner Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan. Americans Jason Brown, whose score in the short program earned him a sport in the final group of skaters, and Jeremy Abbott will compete in the free skate after winning bronze in the team event.

NBC's primetime coverage of the XXII Olympic Winter Games tomorrow, Thursday, February 13 at 8 p.m. ET features the men's short figure skating program, where Russian figure skating legend Yevgeny Plushenko will have immense support from the home crowd, as he skates for his fifth Olympic medal, however, the favorites are reigning world champion Patrick Chan of Canada, and this season's Grand Prix Final winner Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan. Jeremy Abbott and Jason Brown will skate for the U.S. team after they finished first and second, respectively, at the 2014 National Championships.

Julia Mancuso & Shani Davis to Compete for Olympic Milestones Tomorrow

NBC's primetime coverage of the XXII Olympic Winter Games tomorrow, Wednesday, February 12 at 8 p.m. ET, features the most decorated woman in U.S. Olympic alpine history Julia Mancuso, who looks to tie the U.S. record for the most Olympic alpine skiing medals, currently held by Bode Miller, during the women's downhill. Mancuso is fresh off of winning a bronze medal in the super combined at the Sochi Games, bringing her career Olympic medal count to four. Also highlighting primetime is American speed skater Shani Davis as he makes a run at a trifecta of 1000m gold medals to become the first American man to win the same individual event at three Olympic Winter Games. In the women's snowboard halfpipe, 2002 Olympic champion Kelly Clark leads a deep U.S. team into Sochi. In addition, reigning world champions Tatyana Volosozhar and Maksim Trankov look to reinstate Russia's Olympic dominance in the gold medal final for pairs' figure skating following the 2010 Olympics, where Russia's streak of 12 straight pairs gold medals (dating back to the Soviet era) was broken.

It's been said that good news is worth repeating. I guess that adage can be modified for the arts as well. A masterpiece is worth repeating, and thankfully Blue Lapis Light has decided to reprise their stunning, site specific dance piece Heaven-Earth-One a mere seven months after its last production. When I originally saw Heaven-Earth-One back in September, I was awed by the beauty of the site specific dance piece but a bit shocked and puzzled by the relatively sparse audience. This time around, the show is just as beautiful and haunting, and it's nice to see that the show is now reaching a much larger audience.
