To life! The Broadway revival of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF just opened Sunday night, December 20 at The Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway), wrapping up the 2015 Broadway season. FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher, and choreographed by Hofesh Shechter. Last night, December 18, the New York Pops, led by Music Director Steven Reineke, presented an evening full of holiday cheer at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage with help from Tony award nominees Stephanie J. Block and Brian d'Arcy James. Featuring a program of holiday favorites and joined by Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA, the concert returns tonight, December 19. Last night Cafe Carlyle welcomed back GRAMMY Award-winner Steve Tyrell for a four-week engagement and BroadwayWorld was there for opening night. The renowned singer returns with a new show, One More For The Road, featuring a full set of Sinatra favorites in celebration of Ol' Blue Eyes' 100th birthday. It's a fitting tribute since it was actually a Sinatra song, 'The Way You Look Tonight,' that Tyrell sang in the 1991 movie, Father of the Bride, which launched his career as a singer. Years later, the Sinatra family handpicked Tyrell to perform 'Fly Me To The Moon' at the Hollywood Bowl, with Quincy Jones conducting the orchestra, when the Chairman was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2005. Tyrell's ties to the Sinatra family remain tight as he was once again asked to host a three-hour celebration on Siriusly Sinatra on Frank's actual birthday, December 12. He will be live from Patsy's for Sirius XM radio, just as he did in 2014.

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 36 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2016 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 19 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration. The Primary Stages' 2015 Gala took place tonight, November 16, 2015 at 583 Park Avenue. The event celebrated the company and honored Tony and Grammy-winning composer and lyricists Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

Members and past winners of the Dram Desk Award gathered to celebrate the organization's 65th Anniversary at a glittering party at Sardi's.

Tamara Tunie  celebrated a variety of composers and singers at Feinstein's/54 Below last night and Broadwayworld was there. The 'MASH UP', included her favorites fromLEGENDS from the BURGH and her debut cabaret performance YES, I SING!, that not even hurricane Sandy could prevent from being a huge success! If you missed it, it's a MUST SEE! One critic wrote: 'Tunie not only entertained, she helped restore the sparkle to a city known for its resiliency.'

Sometimes there are shows below 54th street that make you want to come up above street level and shout....'hey everybody, come down here, you gotta see this'. That's the type of evening Our Guy Cy is. Composer Cy Coleman wrote some of the greatest Broadway tunes you will ever hear and they have been brilliantly selected and packaged in a show conceived & directed by Will Nunziata and produced by Wayne J. Gmitter.

If this Jamie deRoy 25th Anniversary Show was competing against some of those great Ed Sullivan variety episodes it would have been no contest.  First of all, Jamie knows how to give an introduction, is an entertainer herself, and the best in entertainment business sign up to be in a Jamie deRoy & friends show . The Actors Fund presented this 40th annual 30th Jamie Birthday show and it was truly a spectacular event with some of the most talented performers on the stage at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at the john Jay College of Criminal Justice.  The only crime last night was that the event wasn't televised live but I'm sure excerpts will be available on Jamie's cable TV show and through the facilities of The Actors Fund.  

After a triumphant debut at Feinstein's/54 Below last March, Melissa Manchester has returned with a brand new show, and Broadwayworld was on the scene to capture the evening. Check out photos below!

Last night, Cafe Carlyle welcomed back acclaimed husband-and-wife duo John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey for a four-week engagement, November 3-28 and BroadwayWorld was there. There new show is entitled My Generation and it features selections from Mitchell to McCartney, Simon to Sondheim. Additionally, they'll be performing tracks from John's acclaimed new album, Midnight McCartney.

The celebrated new production of D.L. Coburn's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, The Gin Game, directed by Leonard Foglia and starring legendary actors James Earl Jones and Cicely Tyson, will add four performances in December and January, BroadwayWorld has learned.

On Monday, October 28th, 2015, Rick McKay, the Director, Producer, Writer, Cinematographer and editor of the hit 2004 film, 'Broadway: The Golden Age' won 'Best Film - Greenwich Village Portraits' for his new short film, 'Greenwich Village: A World Apart', at the first ever Greenwich Village Film Festival, which was held at Greenwich Village's historic Player's Theatre at 115 MacDougal Street.

It was 20 years ago when Sarah Jessica Parker starred Off-Broadway in A.R. Gurney's off-beat comedy about a man and his dog, SLYVIA. Just last night her hubby Matthew Broderick had the honor of opening in SLYVIA on Broadway, joined by Annaleigh Ashford as Sylvia, with Julie White and Robert Sella. Terri White, whose career has spanned over 40 years in show business tonight announced her farewell from live performing.

Primary Stages, in association with Amy Danis, Mark Johannes, and Dan Shaheen, presents PERFECT ARRANGEMENT, a New York premiere by Topher Payne (Swell Party, The Only Light in Reno) and directed by Michael Barakiva (White People). The limited engagement runs now through November 6, 2015 at Primary Stages at The Duke on 42nd Street - a New 42nd Street project. 

The new Broadway production of D.L. Coburn's Pulitzer Prize-winning classic, The Gin Game, starring Tony Award winners James Earl Jones and Cicely Tyson, opened last night, October 14 at the Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street, between Broadway and Eighth Avenue).
