The forecast may be calling for a sizzling summer, but CMT is prepared to stay cool this upcoming season with all-new music specials, series premieres and themed programming weeks as part of SIX-PACK SUMMER, kicking-off with the season three premiere of REDNECK ISLAND on Wednesday, June 5 at 10:30 p.m., ET/PT, immediately following the 2013 CMT MUSIC AWARDS.

CMT celebrated Willie Nelson's 80th birthday in Nashville recently with an all-star cast of friends for a special episode of CMT CROSSROADS: WILLIE NELSON & FRIENDS FROM THIRD MAN RECORDS, set to premiere Sunday, June 23 at 9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Singer/Songwriter Jamey Johnson takes to the stage at Indian Ranch in Webster, MA on Sunday, July 21 at 2 PM. Last fall Johnson released his duet tribute album to songwriter Hank Cochran titled Living for a Song: A Tribute to Hank Cochran. When word got out that acclaimed Nashville artist Jamey Johnson was recording a tribute album to beloved songwriter Hank Cochran, musical superstars clamored to participate. From the ranks of the Country Music Hall of Fame came George Strait, Emmylou Harris, Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, Ray Price and Vince Gill, not to mention Cochran's oldest and truest friend, Willie Nelson. Veteran stars Leon Russell, Elvis Costello, Bobby Bare and Asleep at the Wheel perform on the album alongside contemporary artists such as Alison Krauss, Lee Ann Womack and Ronnie Dunn.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held tonight, Feb. 10, 2013, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and once again will be broadcast live on CBS from 8 - 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

Beginning at 5 p.m. tonight, three hours before the main GRAMMY Awards show, the pre-telecast Ceremony will announce awards in 70 additional categories, including musical theater. It will be hosted by David Alan Grier, who is nominated for a Grammy for his performance in The Gershwin's PORGY AND BESS on Broadway.

In eerie fashion, almost as a sign from the long gone masters of the genre, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, and Hank Williams Sr. himself, Moore's label Sol Records has released this epic 12 song cd seemingly in response to pop country artist Blake Shelton's recent statement that folks who perform and /or listen to classic country music are “old farts and jackasses.”

Overall, Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys), FUN., Jay-Z, Mumford & Sons, Frank Ocean, and Kanye West top the nominations with six each; The Black Keys, Chick Corea, and Miguel each garner five nods; and producer Jeff Bhasker, mastering engineer Bob Ludwig and Nas are each up for four awards.

MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET music supervisor and acclaimed musician Chuck Mead will be playing a one night only concert March 3 at 9:30 PM at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street). In addition to Saturday's show at Joe's Pub, Mead will also play Sunday, March 4 at Philadelphia's World Cafe.

The Huntsville Times reports that country singer Jamey Johnson is performing July 30 at the Von Braun Center Arena in Huntsville along with country legend Merle Haggard.
