Broadway's 40 theatres aren't the only places to catch performances from your favorite stars! Well after Broadway orchestra's begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven- o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. For more than six years on Broadway and in the popular 2007 film adaptation, Hairspray delighted audiences the world over by transporting them to a candy-colored 1960's Baltimore, where the 50's are out-and change is definitely in the air. Now this throw-back to the classic musicals of yesterday comes to Tuacahn for the very first time, running now through September 4 and September 8 to October 20, 2012 at the Tuacahn Amphitheatre in Ivins, Utah. Take a magical carpet ride to the Southern Utah desert when Tuacahn becomes an Arabian oasis in this new stage adaptation of the beloved Disney film. Tuacahn's production is directed by Scott S. Anderson and choreographed by Deanna Dys. The show runs now through August 31 and September 3-October 19, 2012 at the Tuacahn Amphitheatre in Ivins, Utah. The excitement of last weekend's opening night performance of Cyrano by Stephen Sachs, a co-production between The Fountain Theatre and Deaf West Theatre, was given an added thrill by the attendance of film/TV actress Marlee Matlin. Matlin is a longtime supporter and patron of Deaf West, and she starred in the CBS television movie version of Sachs' 1997 play Sweet Nothing in my Ear, which also premiered at the Fountain.
