Vail International Dance Festival Sets 2015 Season

The Vail International Dance Festival announces its 2015 schedule to be held July 27 through August 10, marking its 27th season with world premieres, exceptional debuts, and captivating collaborations. Located in the pristine alpine community of Vail, Colorado, the Festival features many of the world's greatest artists from all genres of dance. Under the direction of former New York City Ballet star Damian Woetzel, the Festival's 2015 season includes Artist-in-Residence ballerina Carla Körbes, Savion Glover, Wendy Whelan, American Ballet Theatre's Isabella Boylston, Misty Copeland, and Herman Cornejo, New York City Ballet's Sara Mearns, Tiler Peck, Lauren Lovette, Jared Angle, Chase Finlay, Zachary Catazaro, and Joseph Gordon, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's Linda Celeste Sims and Antonio Douthit-Boyd, Boston Ballet's Misa Kuranaga and Jeffrey Cirio, Pacific Northwest Ballet's Angelica Generosa, and Memphis Jookers Lil Buck and Prime Tyme.

42nd Annual Bach Week Festival to Feature 'Brandenburg' Concertos

The 42nd annual edition of the Chicago area's Bach Week Festival will feature all six of J. S. Bach's beloved 'Brandenburg' Concertos, performed in the course of concerts April 10 at Nichols Concert Hall in Evanston and May 1 and 3 at Anderson Chapel at North Park University on Chicago's North Side. The festival is a collaboration between Bach Week and North Park's School of Music. This will be the first Bach Week Festival to present the complete 'Brandenburg' Concerto cycle. Two of the concertos will anchor each principal concert program, alongside other Bach compositions. An intimate, late-evening Candlelight Concert in Evanston on April 10 will offer music for recorder and theorbo, another festival first.

Artistic Director Peter Boal has announced to subscribers the line-up for Pacific Northwest Ballet's 2015-2016 season. Highlights include a program devoted to the work of American master choreographers George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, and Twyla Tharp; the return of popular works by Balanchine (The Prodigal Son), Robbins (The Concert), Christopher Wheeldon (Tide Harmonic), and Crystal Pite (Emergence); two story ballets (Romeo et Juliette and Coppelia), PNB premieres by Justin Peck, Jessica Lang, and Alejandro Cerrudo; a newly reconstructed Le Corsaire: A Pirate's Tale for matinee fanily audiences; and the unveiling of Balanchine's The Nutcrackerwith brand-new sets and costumes by Ian Falconer.

One of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's (BSO) favorite guest conductors, Yan Pascal Tortelier returns to the podium to lead the Orchestra in Stravinsky's The Firebird Suite tonight, February 27 at 8 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and Saturday, February 28 at 8 p.m. at The Music Center at Strathmore. Also on the program are Berlioz's Le Corsaire overture ('The Pirate'), Ravel's Trio for Piano, Violin and Cello and Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23, performed by pianist Louis Lortie, hailed by many as an authority on the music of Mozart. The Suzanne Farrell Ballet Tours Russia for Artistic Partnership With Theatre Ballet Moscow This Weekend

The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, the Kennedy Center's own ballet company, will engage in an artistic partnership with Theatre Ballet Moscow in February 2015 to perform George Balanchine'sMonumentum Pro Gesualdo. The Suzanne Farrell Ballet will also perform Balanchine's Movements for Piano and Orchestra. Theatre Ballet Moscow will complete the program with pieces by George Aleksidze and Paul Mejia. Through this artistic partnership, Theatre Ballet Moscow will have the opportunity to take classes and learn Balanchine's choreography from Ms. Farrell, one of Balanchine's foremost interpreters, and rehearse with The Suzanne Farrell Ballet. Performances will take place tonight and tomorrow, February 26 and 27 at 7:00pm at the Cultural Centre ZIL in Moscow.

From today, February 12 to 21, 2015, the Geneva-based Orchestre de la Suisse Romande (OSR), one of Switzerland's leading orchestras, tours to California, New York, New Jersey, and Washington, DC to perform its signature interpretations of early 20th-century French and Russian repertoire. Conductor Charles Dutoit, born in Lausanne in the Suisse romande, the French-speaking part of Switzerland, leads the OSR in Debussy's “Ibéria”, Ravel's La valse and Daphnis et Chloé Suite No. 2 in separate programs, and Stravinsky's The Song of the Nightingale. Russian pianist Nikolaï Lugansky joins the OSR in performances of Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. With these programs, Mr. Dutoit pays tribute to the flagship repertoire and spirit of his mentor Ernest Ansermet, the founder and longstanding music director of the OSR.
