On Wednesday, August 21 at 7pm at The Town Hall (123 West 43rd Street), the first NYC Mayoral Democratic Primary Debate will take placemoderated by Errol Louis of NY1. A limited number of tickets to the debate are available free to the public and can be reserved by sending an email to debates@citizensunion.org or calling 212-227-0342, ext. 39. Reserved tickets can then be picked up on 8/21 beginning at 12pm and through 6:30pm at The Town Hall Box Office. Any available unreserved tickets will also be available the day of at the box office.

Step inside the mind of composer, Igor Stravinsky, as his musical choreographic work The Rite of Spring comes to life through the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra on opening night, Saturday, September 21, 8:00 p.m. at the Michigan Theater. The concert features a riotous compilation of some of the greatest symphonic works of the repertoire, and lifts the audience back into the symphony season.

Toronto Symphony Orchestra to Release Rachmaninoff and Stravinsky on 8/6

The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) and Music Director Peter Oundjian will release a recording of Igor Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring—in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the work—and Sergei Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances on the Orchestra's self-produced recording label, TSO LIVE. The Toronto Symphony Orchestra and TSO Music Director Peter Oundjian's performance of Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring was recorded live in December 2008, and Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances in May 2012. Both performances were recorded at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto. This is the Orchestra's eighth release in its series of recordings on the TSO LIVE label.

The New World Symphony, America's Orchestral Academy (NWS), is pleased to share details of our 2013-2014 season. As a research-and-development arm for classical music, the coming season includes a series of commissions, partnerships and events that showcase NWS as a laboratory for generating new ideas about the way music is taught, presented and experienced. Highlights include the commissioning and presentation of new works by emerging and established artists, the development of multi-media collaborative projects, and the continuation of innovative concert formats. These initiatives exist with the goal of developing New World Symphony Fellows, who will advance the field of classical music and become ambassadors for the art forms in their communities and beyond.

Juilliard Dance, under the direction of Lawrence Rhodes, opens its 2013-2014 season with New Dances PLUS: Edition 2013, Wednesday, December 11 through Sunday, December 15, 2013 in Juilliard's Peter Jay Sharp Theater and features Juilliard alumna Pina Bausch's Wind von West (Wind from the West) performed by the Senior Class, plus three world premiere commissions created for each of the classes of Juilliard's Dance Division. Long Beach Opera's Artistic and General Director Andreas Mitisek announces the company's 2014 plans to produce five rarely performed 20th and 21st century, “Out Of Bounds,” operas. The new season includes the Southern California premieres of Duke Ellington's “street opera” Queenie Pie and John Adams' controversial The Death of Klinghoffer; An American Soldier's Tale, Kurt Vonnegut 's provocative remake of Igor Stravinsky'sThe Soldier's Tale paired with Wynton Marsalis' jazz-driven A Fiddler's Tale; and a reprise of LBO audience favorite, David Lang's haunting The Difficulty of Crossing a Field. Bard SummerScape 2013 Presents THE MASTER AND MARGARITA Stage Premiere, Now thru 7/21

The Bard SummerScape festival in New York's Annandale-on-Hudson presents the world premiere of an original stage adaptation of The Master and Margarita (1937) by Mikhail Bulgakov. The Master and Margarita is widely recognized as one of the greatest and most beloved Russian novels of the 20th century. SummerScape's theatrical adaptation comes courtesy of visionary Hungarian director Janos Szasz in collaboration with Gideon Lester, Director of Bard's Theater Programs. It is also Szasz, whose previous stage adaptations of Bulgakov's underground classic have already 'made it big' (Moscow Times) at both the Hungarian National and Moscow Art Theatres, who directs Bard's new production: an exploration of miracles, madness, and the magic of theater itself. The Master and Margarita will be presented in ten performances between today, July 11 and 21 in Theater Two of the Frank Gehry-designed Fisher Center, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, on Bard's glorious Hudson Valley campus.

Los Angeles Ballet Performs AGON and RUBIES at Grand Park Today

Sonny Rollins Celebrity Series Performance Cancelled, 9/28

Due to illness, Sonny Rollins has been forced to cancel his Celebrity Series of Boston performance on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at 8pm at the Boston Opera House. The event was also to serve as the highlight performance of the Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival. Rollins says, 'Due to a recent illness I am unable to perform my upcoming concert in Boston. I am disappointed but I hope to recover soon and I want to thank my many fans who are so loyal to me.'
