Today Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) confirmed that its 'Building a Better World' float will appear in the 92 nd Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade . This year GSUSA will celebrate girls who are building a better world through science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). At a time when women account for half the college-educated workforce but fill just 29 percent of science and engineering occupations,Girl Scouts is cultivating girls' interest in these topics from an early age and helping them build valuable STEM skills so they can take the lead and positively influence our world. Performing on the Girl Scout float will be 15-year-old rising pop-country star and Girl Scout Tegan Marie. In true trailblazing Girl Scout fashion, she'll be one of the youngest country performers in the Parade's history and the youngest performer ever on the Girl Scout float.

The Country Music Association's critically acclaimed CMA Songwriters Series Presented by U.S. Bank has announced a performance at Showbox SoDo in Seattle Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 7:00 PM featuring performances by Bailey Bryan, Barry Dean, Sam Palladio and Cassadee Pope. The series hosts intimate performances with some of Country Music's most exciting songwriting talent taking turns telling the stories behind their hit songs and performing them as originally written. Tickets for the performance cost $25 and go on sale Friday, Nov. 2 at 12:00 PM/CT at CMAsongwritersseries.com.  

Bravo's 'Top Chef' heads to the state of Kentucky for season 16, kicking off with two weeks of supersized premieres beginning Thursday, December 6 at 9:00 pm ET/PT. This season, 15 new talented chefs from cities big and small across the U.S. will compete for the sought-after title amid the unique culinary scenes in Louisville, Lexington and Lake Cumberland, before heading abroad for an epic finale showdown in Macau, China. The Emmy and James Beard Award-winning series returns with host Padma Lakshmi, head judge Tom Colicchio, Graham Elliot, Nilou Motamed and Gail Simmons. 

CMT today revealed an all-star tribute to country legend and 2018 “Artist of a Lifetime” Award recipient, Loretta Lynn, featuring Sheryl Crow, Dierks Bentley and Martina McBride. The trio will perform LIVE from Nashville at the 9th annual “2018 CMT Artists of the Year” special on Wednesday, October 17 at 8:00pm ET/PT. Some of music's biggest stars are set to present at the event, including Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Smokey Robinson, singer-songwriter Elle King, Hillary Scott, Jimi Westbrook, Phillip Sweet, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, along with a special introduction by platinum-selling artist, Trisha Yearwood. They all join previously announced presenter Sissy Spacek.

To continue this year's celebration of women, CMT has added seven new powerhouse performances to the “2018 CMT Artists of the Year” lineup: Carrie Underwood with CMT Next Women of Country and tour mates Maddie & Tae and Runaway June; Miranda Lambert and Pistol Annies; Kelsea Ballerini with Alison Krauss; Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman with soul legend Gladys Knight; and Hillary Scott with singer-songwriter Tori Kelly and Grammy-award winning gospel artist Kirk Franklin. In addition, honoree Maren Morris will join forces with Brandi Carlile for a powerful tribute to late icon Aretha Franklin. The 9th annual special premieres LIVE from Nashville on Wednesday, October 17 at 8:00pm ET/PT, only on CMT.

In a year of celebrating the achievements of women in country music, CMT today announced that Loretta Lynn will be honored with the “Artist of a Lifetime” award presented by Ram Trucks at this year's all-female “CMT Artists of the Year” event premiering live Wednesday, October 17 at 8:00 PM ET/PT. Academy Award winner and “Coal Miner's Daughter” actress Sissy Spacek will bestow the award to Lynn, who joins previous recipients of the honor including Shania Twain (2016), Kenny Rogers (2015), and Merle Haggard (2014).

In recognition of the undeniable influence and impact of female artists in country music, CMT today announced that for the first-time ever the annual “CMT Artists of the Year” special is dedicated to the women of country music—past, present and future. This year's all-female “Artists of the Year” celebration will honor CarrieUnderwood, Miranda Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman, and Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott. The 90-minute special will premiere on Wednesday, October 17 at 8:00 PM, ET/PT only on CMT.

The nonprofit To Write Love on Her Arms has shared an inspiring new video as part of its '#TomorrowNeedsYou' campaign to honor National Suicide Prevention Week (9/9 - 9/15) and World Suicide Prevention Day (9/10).The video features actors Chris Sullivan (from This Is Us) and Jaina Lee Ortiz (from Station 19), country music star Hunter Hayes, writer/artist Morgan Harper Nichols, and singer/songwriter Matt Wertz, along with a number of clips submitted by TWLOHA supporters from around the world. More artists have been announced to perform at the Chillin' on the Lucie music festival in Port St. Lucie, Fla., Oct. 3 - 7. Uncle Kracker has joined the roster, as well as Cassadee Pope, Parmalee, Josh Gracin, Clare Dunn, Kalie Shorr, Hudson Moore and Lewis Brice. Twang and Round, Radio Romance, Julia Cole, Honey County, County Wide and Libby Switzer are also set to perform. The CMA Foundation honored 34 music educators during the third annual CMA Music Teachers of Excellence ceremony last night, Tuesday, May 8, at Nashville's Marathon Music Works. The invite-only event, hosted by RCA Records Nashville recording artist as well as CMA and CMA Foundation board member Chris Young, celebrated teachers from districts across the state of Tennessee as well as cities Chicago, Cincinnati, Los Angeles and Seattle for their advocacy and commitment to music education. More than a dozen Country artists and celebrities attended the ceremony in addition to Nashville Mayor David Briley, Metro Nashville Public Schools Superintendent Shawn Joseph, CMA and CMA Foundation board members, industry leaders, and representatives from eight CMA Foundation beneficiary programs.
