Shana Farr to Make London Debut at The Crazy Coqs, May 14-18

Shana Farr, the multi-talented actress/singer who won the coveted Julie Wilson Award at the Mabel Mercer Foundation's 23rd Annual Cabaret Convention last October at Jazz at Lincoln Center, will make her London singing debut at The Crazy Coqs (20 Sherwood Street) in London, England, on May 14 - 18, 8:00 PM with two late-night shows May 17 - 18, 10:30 PM.

The National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA) has announced that its 5th annual talent showcase will take place on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 7:30pm at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre (200 W 45th St). At this 'Super Bowl' of amateur musical theater, student winners of awards competitions that take place across the United States will perform songs exclusively from the musical theater canon in the quest to win the coveted title of Best Performance by an Actress or Best Performance by an Actor and a Jimmy Award, named for legendary Broadway producer/theater owner James M. Nederlander, in recognition of his generous support of young artists.

The 2013 Boston Pops season, May 8-June 15, under the direction of Keith Lockhart, will present a season-long tribute to the world of movie music, along with programs featuring a wide variety of American musical styles, including jazz, bluegrass, country, gospel, pop, classic standards from the 50s and 60s, and show-stopping songs of Broadway and the American Songbook. For the programs focusing on the season theme, 'Best of Hollywood Film Music,' audiences will hear their favorite music from classic movies and today's popular soundtracks performed live by the Boston Pops, while the accompanying movie clips are projected onto a giant screen suspended above the orchestra. Juilliard's Center for Innovation in the Arts, under the direction of Edward Bilous, presents Beyond the Machine 13.1 with four free performances featuring multimedia and interdisciplinary works tonight, March 27 (7:30 PM), Thursday, March 28 (8 PM), Friday, March 29 (8 PM), and Saturday, March 30 (8 PM) in Juilliard's Rosemary and Meredith Willson Theater. The three works include a theatrical adaptation of a short film, Versions (2010) directed by Oliver Laric; Preferred Project(ion); a multimedia dance-theater work directed and choreographed by Juilliard dancer Jenna Pollack; and a screening of The Projectionist (2003) directed by Michael Bates.
