Now here's one headline you WON'T want to miss! As Disney's NEWSIES continues to carry the banner on its National Tour, cast member Nico DeJesus (Romeo) is seizing the day by offering a unique opportunity for dancers and musical theatre performers during the cast's Southern California stop.

Although the Royal Alexandra Theatre will close for six months for a major renovation as soon as the show closes, the producers of KINKY BOOTS have managed to squeeze in one more final performance of the immensely popular musical.  The extra show, added to keep up with demand, will be performed on Sunday, May 15 at 7PM. 

East West Players (EWP), the nation's longest-running professional theatre of color in the country and the largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work, and the Los Angeles LGBT Center (Center) partner in a perfect pairing of art and social justice in the upcoming production of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, the beloved musical with book by Harvey Fierstein and music and lyrics by Jerry Herman, opening Wednesday, May 18, and running through Sunday, June 26, 2016.

San Francisco Playhouse Artistic Director Bill English and Producing Director Susi Damilano have announced five of six selections for the 2016-2017 Mainstage season.

Skye Crawford presents THROUGH THE MILL, written and directed by Ray Rackham, with musical supervision and arrangement by Simon Holt, musical direction by Jordan Li Smith, choreography by Chris Whittaker, set design by Justin Williams Design, and sound by Ed Shaw. The production runs Wednesday 6 July through Saturday 30 July 2016, with press opening slated for 8 July 2016 at 7:30pm. The three actresses from the THROUGH THE MILL's original run will once again portray Judy Garland at three pivotal stages in her life - Helen Sheals (CBS Judy), Belinda Wollaston (Palace Judy) and Lucy Penrose (Young Judy). at Southwark Playhouse. They will be joined by a further cast of nine actor-musicians, playing a variety of historical figures who featured heavily in Garland's biography. The production will run 6-30 July 2016 with an official press night of Friday, 8 July.

Signature Theatre has announced the cast of La Cage aux Folles directed and choreographed by Signature Associate Artistic Director Matthew Gardiner.

Picture it: New York City; the year, 2002. A wide-eyed, Broadway first timer awaiting her first celebrity signature after a production of 'Hairspray' felt a deep connection with the raspy-voiced actor when he looked me dead in the eye and apologized for his dry sharpie. With one 'Darling, I'm so sorry,' I felt connected to something that felt so distant to me before. I was probably the only 10-year-old at my elementary school who was a Harvey Fierstein fan (specifically for 'Mrs. Doubtfire' and 'La Cage aux Folle'). Little did I know that at that exact moment, my love for Broadway would be inextricably linked to my love for drag, so a drag production based on a book written by Harvey Fierstein should be a no-brainer. Throw in a score written by Cindy Lauper and you have a show that had far to fall for me if done incorrectly. Thankfully, 'Kinky Boots' at The 5th Avenue Theatre was as fabulous as I hoped it would be.

A sensational cast of Australian and international performers has been announced to star in the premiere season of multi award-winning musical KINKY BOOTS at Her Majesty's Theatre, Melbourne from 12 October 2016.

Tony and Emmy Award-winner Martin Short and Emmy Award-winner Derek Hough have joined the cast of NBC's 'Hairspray Live!,' the network's next live Broadway musical holiday event following the phenomenal success of 'The Wiz Live!'

I will admit to the fact that the original 1992 film of "Newsies" is one of my guilty pleasures. So when I heard they were making a stage version of the musical I was dubious but excited. The original already made you overlook much of the schlock, cheese, historical inaccuracies and plot holes. But the stage version, currently at the Paramount Theatre, with its retooled story forces even more of a willing suspension of disbelief almost to the point of brain death. But if you can manage that level of tucking rational thought into some dark corner then you're bound to have a good time as this spectacle is loaded with tons of vibrancy and a bevy of cute "boys" who sure do sing and dance pretty.

There are still many parts yet to be cast (or at least announced), including the star of the show, Tracy Turnblad.
