Casting has been announced for the San Jose engagement of Disney's NEWSIES. The Tony Award-winning production will begin performances at the Center for the Performing Arts (255 Almaden Blvd.) on Tuesday, May 10 for a limited engagement through Sunday, May 15.

Last night, at New Conservatory Theater Center's annual Season Announcement Party for subscribers, donors, artists and press, NCTC Founder & Artistic Director Ed Decker announced the line-up for the 2016-17 subscription season, which marks the 35th anniversary of the company. Regarded nationally and internationally as San Francisco's Premier LGBQI and Allied Theatre Company, NCTC breaks new ground with a season that features eight powerhouse plays and musicals, including three world premieres developed through NCTC's New Play Development Lab.

The Pasadena Playhouse presents the West Coast Premiere of CASA VALENTINA by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein, the iconic playwright of the Broadway hits Torch Song Trilogy, La Cage Aux Folles, Newsies and Kinky Boots. Emmy Award winner Wayne Brady ended his run in KINKY BOOTS as 'Lola/Simon' yesterday, March 27. Brady took over the role in November from Billy Porter, who won a Tony in 2013 for his performance. Click below to watch the actor's final bow and emotional curtain call speech! 

KINKY BOOTS, the smash-hit musical that brings together four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (Book) and Grammy Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper (Tony Award-winner for Best Score for KINKY BOOTS), opens at the Fox Theatre March 29 - April 3, 2015 as part of the 2015/2016 Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Atlanta series. Tickets go on sale January 10.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has announced that Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein, the creators of the hit Broadway musical Kinky Boots, will be honored with the 2,577th and 2,578th stars, respectively, on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in front of the historic Pantages Theatre (6243 Hollywood Boulevard) on April 11, 2016. Lauper's star will be dedicated in the category of Recording, and Fierstein's star will be dedicated in the category of Live Performance. The event will be live-streamed exclusively on www.walkoffame.com.

East West Players (EWP), the nation's longest-running professional theatre of color in the country and the largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work, completes its extended two year 50th Anniversary Season Golden with the Tony Award-winning musical 'La Cage aux Folles' for a six week engagement.

With direction by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie and choreography by Josh Rhodes, BRIGHT STAR began performances on February 25th and opens officially tonight, March 24th, 2016 at at the Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street). NOW That's What I Call Music!, the world's best-selling multi-artist album series, has announced that they are set to release their first ever NOW That's What I Call Broadway! on Friday, April 29, 2016. The album will feature 18 music tracks from the original cast recordings of some of the Great White Way's most legendary shows. The album features liner notes by David Cote, theater editor for Time Out New York as well as a playwright and librettist/lyricist.

The Fulton Theatre has announced that it is one of the first regional theatres in the country to be awarded the rights to produce Disney's smash-hit musical Newsies from June 6 - July 23, 2017. Newsies will close out the previously announced 2016/2017 season.  The Fulton Theatre's Artistic Director Marc Robin stated "We are ecstatic to produce Newsies in 2017. This show is a perfect bookend to our season and will resonate with the Fulton's audiences, who appreciate a great book, incredible music and energetic dance."
