The 40th NAACP Image Awards nominees were announced today during a press conference at The Beverly Hilton Hotel. Corbin Bleu, Audra McDonald, Keke Palmer, Nate Parker and Regina Taylor joined NAACP Image Awards Committee Chair, Clayola Brown, and Vicangelo Bulluck, Executive Producer of the telecast, to announce the categories and nominees. The 40th NAACP Image Awards will air live on Thursday, February 12 (8:00 - 10:00 PM ET/PT Tape-delayed) on FOX.

Dancing with the Stars host Samantha Harris told People when that her ideal Dancing with the Stars contestant would be the one and only Hugh Jackman. 'He's a song and dance man. He's a Broadway guy. He's got charisma and you know he can move' she told the entertainment magazine.

Variety is reporting that Hugh Jackman has removed himself from discussions to star with Catherine Zeta-Jones in 'CLEO,' a 3-D live action musical which Steven Soderbergh will direct as his next project. There had been buzz for the last number of weeks regarding Jackman joining the film.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has confirmed that Hugh Jackman will host the 81st annual Academy Awards.The Academy said Friday that the 40-year-old Australian actor, recently named People magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive,' will host the Oscars.

SuperheroHype/ComingSoon.net reports that Tony-winning actor Liev Schreiber is currently 'baring his fangs' in the upcoming X-Men spin-off Wolverine, starring Tony Award-winner Hugh Jackman in the title role. Schreiber plays the iconic role of Victor Creed better known to comic fans as 'Sabertooth'.

Hugh Jackman is scheduled to appear on Jimmy Kimmel December 4th and The View December 5th in promotion of his new film 'AUSTRALIA.' The film takes place in northern Australia prior to World War II. Emmy winner Rosie O'Donnell has signed on to star in and executive produce the poignant new Lifetime Original Movie, 'America,' premiering in February 2009. Based on E.R. Frank's book of the same name, the film follows the story of a boy named America, an emotionally vacant sixteen-year-old, who spent his entire life shuffled through the foster care system. O'Donnell stars as a therapist who gives America the support he needs to deal with his troubled past and helps him find the courage to live.

An Evening with Family Guy's Alex Borstein & Seth MacFarlane: A Benefit for the Writers Guild of America Strike Fund is set for tonight Thursday, January 31 at the legendary Carnegie Hall. Performance at 8:00 PM. Proceeds will benefit the Writers Guild Of America, East Strike Fund.
