Carnegie Hall opens its 2015-2016 125th anniversary season on Wednesday, October 7 at 7:00 p.m. with the New York Philharmonic conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert, performing the world premiere of Vivo by Magnus Lindberg, co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall, Ravel's Daphnis et Chloe Suite No. 2, and Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 with Evgeny Kissin.

By popular demand, award-winning choreographers Janice Garrett and Charles Moulton will stage encore performances of The Luminous Edge, their highly successful evening-length dance theater work that premiered in September, 2014. Premiere performances sold out in 2014 and the work made multiple Bay Area critics' top-choice lists for the year, making it one of the choreographers' most popular and successful works to date. The deeply expressive and theatrical work explores themes of transcendence, hope and rebirth and features six Garrett + Moulton dance soloists and an 18-dancer “movement choir”—a theatrical form also used by Garrett and Moulton in their 2009 and 2011 productions, The Illustrated Book of Invisible Storiesand The Experience of Flight in Dreams. This month, Luminato Festival presents Apocalypsis, the epic musical voyage written by acclaimed Canadian composer R. Murray Schafer, in one of the largest performance events Toronto has ever seen. 1,000 performers from across Ontario create an empire of sound and movement under the direction of Lemi Ponifasio of MAU, with musical direction by Toronto conductor David Fallis (The Toronto Consort, Opera Atelier) and light by Helen Todd (MAU).

This June, Luminato Festival presents Apocalypsis, the epic musical voyage written by acclaimed Canadian composer R. The Chamber Music Society of Detroit presents an all-star cast of four distinguished musicians – violinist Daniel Hope, violist Paul Newbauer, cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han – coming together for an evening of piano quartets Saturday, April 11 at 8 PM. The concert is part of a twelve-concert U.S. tour featuring artist members of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and includes quartets by three Romantic masters, Gustav Mahler, Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms. The evening also includes a pre-concert recital by duo pianists Yuki and Tomoko Mack beginning at 6:45 PM which is open to ticket-holders free of charge. The Mack sisters will perform music of Dvo?ák, Liszt, Piazzolla, Smetana and Gravilin.
