Following an open submission process, six projects have been selected for the 2013/14 Kogod Cradle Series, as part of the American Voices New Play Institute at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater (1101 Sixth St., S.W.). Focused on the development of new and emerging work by artists from throughout Greater Washington and around the country, this series of workshops, readings and performances invites artists and audiences to actively explore the development process.

Back on April 1, when he posted his third compilation of delayed cabaret reviews from shows staged during the winter, BroadwayWorld.com's lead New York cabaret reviewer promised Number 4 would come with arrival of summer. Okay, so he missed his self-imposed deadline by a couple of weeks. but here's yet another catch-up column with critiques of a half dozen spring shows performed by Bryan Batt, Dawn Derow, Lynly Forrest, Dennis McNeil, Anastasia Barzee, and Nina Hennessey.

On Tuesday, July 2, Bryan Batt appeared at Rockwell on Vermont in Hollywood in Batt on a Hot Tin Roof. The show may have had nothing to do with Tennessee Williams, as Batt pointed out at the top, but boy oh boy did he SIZZLE.

Throughline Artists (J.J. Kandel, Executive Producer; John McCormack, Producing Artistic Director) will present SUMMER SHORTS 2013, their seventh annual festival of new American short plays from established and emerging writers, at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street). Performances will begin Friday July 19th, and continue through Saturday August 31st only.

All summer and into the fall, Fox Valley Repertory brings nostalgic musicals and relatable comedies to the Pheasant Run Mainstage. The summer includes: the rocking '60s musical, Why Do Fools Fall In Love, FVR Youth Ensembles journey across the famous yellow brick road, The Wizard Of Oz, the insightful and comical play, Defending the Caveman, Mike Toomey's multimedia comedic recollection of television in TV & Me, Chicago's finest improv troupe performing The Best of The Second City, and a classic tribute to the legendary composer Cole Porter, Let's Misbehave , at Pheasant Run Resort (4051 E. Falcon Theatre Founder, Garry Marshall, has announced the Falcon Theatre's 2013-2014 5-Play Subscription Season. Falcon Theatre's 12th subscription season celebrates both new and classic comedy, collaborating with Impro Theatre, Troubadour Theater Company and Lookingglass Theatre Company of Chicago to create an exciting line-up.

Three world premieres, seven productions in all, are scheduled for the 10th season at the Douglas. The works range from a new rock musical to a sweeping new drama to a masterful interpretation of the works of Beckett, plus the bonus option of The Second City's one-of-a-kind Christmas show. In addition, three Los Angeles solo artists will be presented in the popular DouglasPlus program, and will represent CTG in the Radar L.A. festival.

Billy Crystal will return to Broadway this fall for a 9-week-only limited engagement of his Tony Award-winning, record-breaking play 700 SUNDAYS. This will mark the final engagement of this production. Revlon Brand Ambassadors Emma Stone and Olivia Wilde will host the 2013 event in New York today, May 4th and Halle Berry will host in Los Angeles on Saturday, May 11th with co-hosts Entertainment Tonight's Brooke Anderson and Dancing with the Stars' Carrie Ann Inaba.
