Ten new dramas and comedies, absorbing and entertaining, are featured in the second year of the Barrington Stage 10X10 NEW PLAY FESTIVAL. Ten minutes each and playing for just ten days, the offers provide a tasty sample of what is new in the regional theatre community today.

A fascination with Ernest Hemingway's Paris of the 1920s has been on the upswing, says Darla Worden, founder of the Left Bank Writers Retreat, a small-group summer writer's workshop in Paris, France, now in its fifth year. 'We noticed a real increase in interest right after the release of Woody Allen's 'Midnight in Paris,' says Worden, 'and then the popularity of recent books like The Paris Wife and A Moveable Feast: The Restored Edition have kept the interest alive.'

OPERA America, the national service organization for opera, has announced that it has awarded grants to 10 opera companies and four teams of artists through two funding programs: The Opera Fund: Repertoire Development and the Robert L.B. Tobin Director-Designer Showcase. These grants support the production of new North American opera and help develop the careers of promising directors and designers, respectively.

5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche, the explosive Off-Broadway play, has announced today that it will play a weekend of performances once a month at The SoHo Playhouse Mainstage (15 Vandam Street, NYC). Previously scheduled to play weekly performances through Sunday, January 6th, effective immediately the production is now playing four performances during the second weekend of each month beginning January 11, 2013. This monthly cycle will continue on the weekends of February 8th and March 8th. A closing date has not been announced.

Berkeley's acclaimed Aurora Theatre Company presents the second Aurora Script Club meeting of the season with Gertrude Stein's Stein Times. Gertrude Stein, a contemporary and friend of Thornton Wilder, wrote numerous plays in addition to the other prolific written and artistic contributions she made in her life. Several of her short works (The Making of Americans: Being a History of a Family's Progress (1906-11); Do Let Us Go Away A Play (1916); A Family of Perhaps Three (1922); and A Circular Play (1930) ) will be read together to explore the parallels they have with the one-act plays of Wilder Times, revealing how she influenced, and conspired with, Thornton Wilder to give a brand new, and specifically American, dramatic form to their 20th century world. Aurora Theatre Company Education Director Michael Mansfield hosts this moderated discussion series. The Aurora Script Club was conceived and developed by Aurora Theatre Company Artistic Director Tom Ross. All of the Script Club selections for the season are plays that are penned by female playwrights.

Off-Broadway's 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche wants all of the lady sisters of the country to come together and celebrate the right to have their voices heard! The play's Susan B. Anthony Society for the Sisters of Gertrude Stein are asking women to "Quiche the Vote" by taking a photo of herself (not her ballot) after she votes, and uploading it to Instagram with the hash tag #5quiches and #QuicheTheVote. Today the cult Off-Broadway hit 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche announced that it will be standing with its fellow SoHo Playhouse, Inc. production The Old Man and the Old Moon in giving away free tickets to those displaced from their homes due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy.
