ACT MFA Program Presents Ackerman's VOLLEYGIRLS 3/12-3/28

The A.C.T. Master of Fine Arts Program and Young Conservatory present the world premiere production of Volleygirls, Rob Ackerman's funny and moving look at the spirit and passion of team sports, directed by W. D. Keith. Featuring actors from the graduating class of the A.C.T. M.F.A. Program and young actors from the Young Conservatory, Volleygirls spikes a spirited, heartfelt look at a down-and-out high school volleyball team. Following a string of losses and facing their biggest rival, the girls of Saint Agnes hatch a wild plan to turn their flailing team around-while their self-defeating coach must confront his 'loseritis.'

Theatre in the Round Players (TRP) presents The Devil's Disciple by George Bernard Shaw in weekend performances March 20 through April 12. In a New Hampshire village during the Revolutionary War, the local rascal Dick Dudgeon is mistaken for the town's minister and arrested by the British as a rebel. Now facing the gallows, will this scoundrel betray the reverend? In his only play set in America, George Bernard Shaw aims his wicked wit at our War for Independence, along with his usual targets - religion, the English, the military - in a crackling comic melodrama.

Publick Theatre Boston returns to the familiar, eclectic worlds of English gardens, strained family relations, and quantum physics with the New England premiere of Charlotte Jones's award-winning comedy Humble Boy. Performances are April 9 through May 2, 2009 at the Plaza Theatre at the Boston Center for the Arts, 539 Tremont Street in Boston's South End. Performances are Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00 pm, Saturdays at 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm and Sundays at 3:00pm. Press Performance is Sunday April 12 at 3pm. Lipuma announce the company's 18th season, which includes Tom Stoppard's comedic masterpiece Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, directed by Michael Halberstam; Noel Coward's musical revue, Oh Coward! to be performed in Writers' most intimate venue; The Old Settler by John Henry Redwood, directed by Ron OJ Parson; and Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by David Cromer.

Lipuma announce the World Premiere of A Minister's Wife, a new musical adapted from Candida by George Bernard Shaw, with music by Joshua Schmidt and lyrics by Jan Tranen. A Minister's Wife was adapted by Austin Pendleton and will be directed by Michael Halberstam. The production runs May 19-July 19, 2009, at Writers' Theatre, 325 Tudor Court in Glencoe.
