Writers' Theatre Extends THE MINISTER'S WIFE, Now Running Through 8/9

Writers' Theatre Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma announce the extension of the World Premiere of A Minister's Wife, a new musical adapted from Candida by George Bernard Shaw, with music by Joshua Schmidt and lyrics by Jan Tranen. A Minister's Wife was adapted by Austin Pendleton and is directed by Michael Halberstam. The production will now run through August 9, 2009, at Writers' Theatre, 325 Tudor Court in Glencoe.

Peter Pan, who has returned home for the first time in over 100 years with a new production of JM Barrie's 'PETER PAN' being performed in a one million pound purpose-built theatre tent in Kensington Gardens, is so successful that already its run has been extended to the end of the Kensington Gardens season. Due to the triumph that is 'PETER PAN', many of the performances in the current booking period are sold out. The extra performances are from 1 - 13 September and these are now on sale.

The 2009-2010 season at the Douglas was announced today by CTG's Artistic Director Michael Ritchie and it will include a world premiere, an American premiere and a West Coast premiere plus expanded DouglasPlus programming that includes an eclectic mix of theatre choices ranging from fully-staged productions to bare-bones workshops and readings. Limited-run, special events will also be a part of DouglasPlus.

As playwright Matthew Lombardo continues to develop the upcoming Arena Stage production of Looped starring four-time Emmy Award-winning Valerie Harper (Rhoda on The Mary Tyler Moore Show) as Tallulah Bankhead, a casting change has taken place. Jay Goede, known for his work on Broadway in Angels in America, A Year with Frog and Toad and Sex and Longing, will now play opposite Harper in the pre-Broadway staging, directed by Rob Ruggiero at Arena Stage at the Lincoln Theatre May 29 through June 28, 2009. PROJECT SHAW, now in its third of the four-year series, continues tackling every play George Bernard Shaw ever wrote. This was its 37th presentation. Shaw's rarely performed comedies, THE MAN OF DESTINY and THE GLIMPSE OF REALITY were performed on Monday, MAY 18th at 7pm at The Players Club, 16 Gramercy Park South. David Staller is producer and director.
