Winner of eight 2007 Tony Awards, Spring Awakening is set against the backdrop of a repressive and provincial late 19th century Germany and tells the timeless story of teenage self-discovery and budding sexuality as seen through the eyes of three teenagers. Based on the infamous 1891 Frank Wedekind play, this groundbreaking musical features an electrifying score by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater who also wrote the book, direction by Michael Mayer and choreography by the award-winning Bill T. Jones. Haunting and provocative, Spring Awakening celebrates the unforgettable journey into adulthood with a power, a poignancy and a passion you will never forget. A powerful coming of age story, it contains mature themes, sexual situations, brief partial nudity and explicit language. Scott Weiland Saturday, January 31 at 8:00 P.M. Seven years ago he came back from a trip in the UK with the same idea as composer friend Duncan Sheik; to bring to life the Frank Wedekind classic 'Spring Awakening' Years of work and collaborations with the right like minded creatives have brought this unique show to life. With a string of Tony awards to prove its success and endorse its popularity the show comes to London opening on January 23rd at the small but progressive Lyric Theatre.
