London's Lyric Hammersmith Theatre has announced initial casting for their production of SPRING AWAKENING.

"In a world where grown-ups hold all the cards, three school friends experience the exhilarating, turbulent journey into adulthood… Spring Awakening is a vibrant and poignant story about a brilliant young student Melchior, his troubled friend Moritz, and Wendla, a beautiful teenage girl - all on a voyage of personal discovery and sexual awakening," describe press notes

Inspired by Frank Wedekind’s 1891 masterpiece of repressed emotion and adolescent passion, Spring Awakening explodes onto the Lyric Stage driven by a thrilling contemporary score.   The Lyric has invited the entire original creative team behind the highly acclaimed New York production to stage the London premiere with a new British cast.

The cast will feature Lucy Barker, Aneurin Barnard, Natasha Barnes, Chris Barton, Jamie Blackley, Hayley Gallivan, Natalie Garner, Mona Goodwin, Evelyn Hoskins, Edd Judge, Harry McEntire, Jamie Muscato, Gemma O’Duffy, Iwan Rheon, Jos Slovick, Richard Southgate and Charlotte Wakefield.

The musical will run in the UK from January 23rd- February 28th, 2009. For more information and to purchase tickets please visit www.lyric.co.uk.
