According to The Hollywood Reporter, Anthony Hopkins will portray American writer Ernest Hemingway in the new film HEMINGWAY & FUENTES. Andy Garcia, who will portray fisherman, Gregorio Fuentes, is set to direct the film.

Mint Theater today announced the cast for the first-ever revival of Love Goes To Press by Martha Gellhorn and Virginia Cowles. The Mint production will run from May 26 to July 22 at their home (311 West 43rd Street). Opening Night is set for Monday, June 18th.

'Marlene Dietrich -- ein Name, der mit unglaublicher Zärtlichkeit beginnt und mit einem Peitschenknall endet.' schrieb Ernest Hemingway. Die große Dietrich, Schauspielerin, Sängerin, Entertainerin und berühmteste Tochter Berlins, verstarb vor zwanzig Jahren am 06. Mai 1992. 20 Jahre ist es auch her, dass der Lesben- und Schwulenverband Berlin-Brandenburg gegründet wurde. Aus diesem Anlass gab es eine große Benefizgala im Wintergarten Theater mit dem erklärten Ziel Spenden zugunsten eines Denkmals für Magnus Hirschfeld zu sammeln, um an die im 19. Jahrhundert entstandene und im Nationalsozialismus zerschlagene erste homosexuelle Emanzipationsbewegung zu erinnern. Das Denkmal soll gegenüber dem Bundeskanzleramt am Magnus-Hirschfeld-Ufer errichtet werden.

Artistic Director Sean Murray is proud to announce Cygnet Theatre's second World Premiere production - acclaimed local writer Richard Platt's RIPPLES FROM WALDEN POND - An Evening with Henry David Thoreau. This production, which began as a staged-reading in collaboration with Write Out Loud, will once again feature Cygnet Resident Artist Francis Gercke as Thoureau, and will be directed by Eric Poppick. RIPPLES FROM WALDEN POND will run for four performances only, April 16th, 17th, 23rd, and 24th at 7:30pm. All four performances will take place at Cygnet Theatre in Old Town State Historic Park.

Martha Plimpton (Raising Hope) reads from Jersey girl Sylvia Beach's memoir about opening Shakespeare & Company bookstore in Paris in 1919, at Symphony Space's April 11 Selected Shorts. The evening is devoted to literary life in Paris in the 1920s-40s and in Brooklyn today.
