The Theatre Project has announced the line-up of its 2015-16 season, which will include classics, contemporary, and experimental works at its downtown residency at the historic Players Theatre. Beginning in June, The Theatre Project's season celebrates the company's 5th Anniversary Off-Broadway and will feature six productions as well as musical performances and free public readings throughout the year.

A fitting place for Mr. Scrooge to celebrate his charitable redemption.

Opening November 30th at the Players Theatre, 'A Christmas Carol' is a warm and uplifting adaptation of the classic Dickens tale celebrating holiday spirit. With original music by Michael Sgouros, played by a live percussion trio, the show is wrapped in the warmth of joy, suspense and a sprinkling of tender-hearted redemption.

The Theatre Project's 'Exciting and innovative' rep company TP&co, presents their contemporary adaptation of Marat/Sade, Peter Weiss' avant-garde drama, with a fresh take on a dangerous play that taps directly into an undercurrent of social unease. Directed by Christian Amato with original music by Danny Gray, Marat/Sade opens tonight, May 30, and runs through June 13 at the historic Players Theatre in the heart of the Greenwich Village. In 1837 Hans Christian Anderson wrote his most beloved tale 'The Little Mermaid'. 177 years later she is still swimming her way into the hearts of young and old. On February 16th, Literally Alive Children's Theatre will open their musical adaptation of this classic tale with books and lyrics by Brenda Bell and music by Michael Sgouros at the Players Theatre located at 115 MacDougal Street (between Bleeker and West 3rd) in Manhattan. Their adaptation is true to the original story by Hans Christian Andersen, unlike the Disney version, which has a different ending. 'We tell the story in its original form' says Artistic Director Brenda Bell, 'We believe that the true ending shows children that every wish has a price and that love comes with many sacrifices.'
