Joint Venture Makes For Cohesive AMADEUS Collaboration among Western New York arts groups can only help serve the better good of the community and a happy pairing of Irish Classical Theatre with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra is playing on at Kleinhans Music Hall, as both groups present Peter Shaffer's TONY and Academy Award winning AMADEUS. While integrating live music with theatrical plays may have been commonplace at one time-- think Beethoven's Overture and incidental music to the play EGMONT or Mendelssohn's interludes to ROMEO AND JULIET, it is a custom that has all but died of extinction in the 20th century. So the novelty of having the full BPO join forces with one of Buffalo's premier theatre companies is truly a rare theatrical opportunity.

Dramaturg Mark Bly, who has worked as an adjunct instructor for the Fordham University Theatre Department since 2014, has just joined the Fordham/Primary Stages MFA program as co-director, in collaboration with Elliot Fox of Primary Stages.

Paradise Glen Productions announced today they will present A Balkan American Musical Celebration at the East Village music venue DROM on Monday, February 22 from 6-9pm. A dynamic fusion of Balkan and American jazz & blues, mixed with traditional Sevdah-style Bosniak singing, this one-night only musical event features performances by Olivier Award-winning Croatian actress Zrinka Cvitesic, acclaimed jazz vocalist Sasha Dobson, noted jazz pianist & composer Frank Owens and gypsy punk rockers Bad Buka, and emceed by actor Tony Naumovski.

Joining current cast members Arnie Burton (Peter and the Starcatcher, The 39 Steps), Carson Elrod (All in the Timing, The Explorers Club), Kelly Hutchinson (Desire Under the Elms, Don Peyote) and Liv Rooth (All in the Timing, Venus in Fur), Biehl will assume the roles played by Rick Holmes who departs the production to begin rehearsals for The Visit on Broadway.

Primary Stages continues their 29th season with The Tribute Artist, a new world premiere comedy written by and starring Tony-nominee Charles Busch (The Divine Sister, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, Olive and the Bitter Herbs). Directed by Busch's long-time collaborator Carl Andress (The Divine Sister, The Third Story), the cast will also feature Mary Bacon(Harrison, TX...; Giant), Cynthia Harris (Lost in Yonkers, 'Mad About You'), Julie Halston (Olive and the Bitter Herbs, Anything Goes) Keira Keeley (Angels in America, The Glass Menagerie), and Jonathan Walker(The Assembled Parties, The Divine Sister). The Tribute Artist runs January 21-March 16 at Primary Stages at59E59 Theaters. Opening night is Sunday, February 9 at 6pm. Primary Stages held their annual Gala last night, November 11, at The Edison Ballroom (240 W. 47th Street). The event honored Tony Award-winning playwright Christopher Durang and President of the General Counsel at Dramatists Play Service, Stephen Sultan. The evening featured performances by Rachel deBenedet (Catch Me If You Can, Addams Family), Alan Paul (Grease, Oliver!, Manhattan Transfer), Michele Ragusa (Urinetown, Ragtime, A Class Act, Adrift in Macao), and Alton F.
