Prominent Cuban and Cuban-American dance artists will discuss how evolving relations between the United States and Cuba will affect the arts and cultural exchanges between the two countries in a free panel on Wednesday, February 18 at 6:15 pm at New York City Center.

Ballet Hispanico, recognized as America's leading Latino dance organization since 1970, will perform in Cuba's International Ballet Festival of Havana this weekend, November 1-2, 2014 at 5pm. Highlights of the program include Asuka, a celebration of the music of Celia Cruz by Ballet Hispanico's Cuban-American Artistic Director Eduardo Vilaro, along with Sortijas (Cayetano Soto), Sombrerísimo (Annabelle Lopez Ochoa), and El Beso (Gustavo Ramírez Sansano). This engagement marks Ballet Hispanico's first-ever performance in Cuba.

The New York Dance and Performance Awards (The Bessies), NYC's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, celebrates a milestone 30th anniversary this year. Today, the 36 nominees for the 2013-14 season were announced at a press conference by members of The Bessies Selection Committee. The nominations (listed below) were selected by an independent committee of 40 dance industry professionals. Produced in partnership with Dance/NYC, Bessie Award categories include Outstanding Performer, Outstanding Production, Outstanding Visual Design, Outstanding Music Composition or Sound Design and Outstanding Revival.

Ballet Hispanico will perform audience favorite Sombrerisimo by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa from July 23-25 at Victory Dance, a pilot initiative of The New Victory Theater to provide free dance performances to New York City kids this summer.

Ballet Hispanico, recognized as the nation's premier Latino dance organization since 1970, will perform a dynamic trio of works at SummerStage at Central Park on Wednesday, July 16 at 8pm. The program for the evening will include Artistic Director Eduardo Vilaro's Asuka, a special piece celebrating the life and music of Celia Cruz on the anniversary of her 2003 passing. Ms. Cruz last performed in Central Park's SummerStage in 2002. Ballet Hispanico was founded in 1970 by Tina Ramirez in order to "explore, preserve, and celebrate Latino cultures through dance." Through its repertory of over 100 works, Ballet Hispanico attempts to represent the diversity of Latino culture.
