Haven Theatre has announced two of the three productions featured in its upcoming 2017-18 Season, including one world premiere - plus an exciting Midwest premiere already set for the company's 2018-19 Season.

Invisible Wall Productions presents The View UpStairs - the provocative new musical written by Max Vernon and directed by Scott Ebersold - at Culture Project - The Lynn Redgrave (45 Bleecker Street). Choreography is by Al Blackstone with James Dobinson serving as Music Supervisor and Orchestrator.

National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu has approved more than $82 million to fund local arts projects and partnerships in the NEA's second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2016.  Included in this announcement is an Art Works award of $40,000 to American Lyric Theater (ALT) in support of the Composer Librettist Development Program. The Art Works category supports the creation of work and presentation of both new and existing work, lifelong learning in the arts, and public engagement with the arts through 13 arts disciplines or fields.

A range of performances and events from the 2016 NY PHIL BIENNIAL will be made available through live video webcasts, live audio streams, and on-demand video and audio, several in partnership with WQXR's Q2 Music, which will also feature a 24-hour biennial marathon on May 24. Biennial highlights will later be featured on a radio broadcast on WFMT's Relevant Tones with Seth Boustead, and on a release of biennial highlights on the Philharmonic's digital recording series Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic: 2015-16 Season.

The Public Theater announced today that Stew and Heidi Rodewald will perform live with the on-stage band for THE TOTAL BENT, playing the guitar and bass, respectively. With text by Stew and music by Stew and Heidi Rodewald, the team behind the Tony Award-wining musical Passing Strange, which premiered at The Public in 2003, this world premiere musical is directed by Joanna Settle. Performances begin Tuesday, May 10 and continue through Sunday, June 12, with an official press opening on Wednesday, May 25.

For seven weeks, students of the National Theater Institute Semester and the National Music Theater Institute have been studying playwriting and book writing with Donna Di Novelli, paving the way for one of NTI's signature experiences: Playwrights & Librettists Week. As I was reading The O'Neill: The Transformation of Modern American Theater by Jeffrey Sweet and walking through Launchpad of the American Theater: The O'Neill Since 1964, a 50th anniversary exhibit at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, it became clear to me that the ideas, principles, and people that have shaped the O'Neill and the National Theater Institute are still so very evident and become a part of every student who studies with NTI.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center announces actor/writer/director Josh Radnor will participate in a discussion about his time at the O'Neill's National Theater Institute at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts Bruno Walter Auditorium on June 19, 2014. ALT is recommended for a $35,000 grant to support the Composer Librettist Development Program - the only full time professional mentorship initiative for emerging operatic writers in the country.
