Founded by Curtis Sherrod, the annual event has grown to become a staple in honoring the hip-hop culture, while offering artful performances, mindful panel discussions, and priceless networking opportunities. With particular emphasis on celebrating the role of DJs in the culture, the essence of hip-hop is explored via 'unending' cyphers, through the companion event titled DJ-Con.

The South Orange Performing Arts Center will celebrate the countless contributions of community leaders Samuel M. Convissor, Dan Arrighi and Sam Joseph at its 2018 Gala, October 27, 6-11 p.m. They will be honored for their long-time philanthropy and activism that have added immeasurably to the success of SOPAC and the local community. The legendary Grammy Award-winning Judy Collins, of "Send in the Clowns" fame, will provide entertainment for gala attendees.

It's been 13 years since the R&B world has had a taste of musical stylings by Jeffrey Osborne.
