The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Interim Executive Director; David McCoy, Chairman of the Board), dedicated to the development of new musicals and the preservation of musical gems from the past, presents the 1969 musical Dear World with book by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, new version by David Thompson (based on an adaptation by Maurice Valency of the play The Madwoman of Chaillot by Jean Giraudoux), music and lyrics by Jerry Herman, starring 6-time Emmy® Award and Tony® Award-winner Tyne Daly (Gypsy) as Countess Aurelia.

When a group of businessmen scheme to drill for oil in Paris, there is only one force in the world that can stop them: Countess Aurelia, the Madwoman of Chaillot. With the help of idealism, love, and poetry-not to mention two other madwomen, a local sewerman, and a pair of young lovers-the Countess fights to save Paris and the world from greed.

Irish Repertory Theatre announced today an extension of FINIAN'S RAINBOW, which will now run through December 31. Directed and adapted by Charlotte Moore (Da), FINIAN'S RAINBOW began previews on October 26, 2016, and officially opened November 6, 2016 at Irish Rep Theatre (132 West 22nd Street) on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage.

Just last night, Irish Repertory Theatre presented FINIAN'S RAINBOW: IN CONCERT, this season's Gala Benefit production celebrating their return home to 22nd Street. Hosted by Saoirse Ronan, FINIAN'S RAINBOW: IN CONCERT featured performances by members of the Irish Rep cast in their original roles: Melissa Errico as 'Sharon,' Malcolm Gets as 'Og,' David Staller as 'the Narrator,' and Max Von Essen as 'Woody.' They were joined by Tony Award winner Jim Norton as 'Finian,' Megan Fairchild of New York City Ballet as 'Susan the Silent,' and a full chorus.

The new musical focuses on the director's decision to hire Bela Lugosi, famous for his film portrayal of Dracula at the end of Lugosi's career.
