Hope Mohr Dance has announced a one-night-only engagement of Becca Blackwell, Monday, September 18 at Z Below. Part stand-up comedy, part “teen zine vomit confessional,” THEY, THEMSELF AND SCHMERM is the New York City-based trans performer's personal tale of being adopted into a Midwestern religious family, trained to be a girl, molested, and plagued by the question, “How do I become a man and do I even want that?”

Peak Performances, the renowned series at Montclair State University that plays a key role in the global performing arts landscape by introducing major new stage productions and critical innovations in the development and presentation of contemporary theater, dance, performance art and music, is proud to announce that its 2017-18 season will consist entirely of new works by women. The season as a whole, and the nine premieres that comprise it, make a timely contribution to national and international conversations about women's agency. All performances will take place in the state-of-the-art Alexander Kasser Theater in Montclair.

Where else but Peak Performances to present the US Premiere of her new work, Figure a Sea Set to a score by legendary electronic music pioneer Laurie Anderson and performed by 20 dancers of Sweden's adventurous Cullberg Ballet, Figure a Sea makes its US Premiere October 6th through October 9th at Peak Performances, which has become the new home for the best in modern dance.

For 20 years, Velocity has gathered people on Capitol Hill around a common love of making, experiencing, experimenting and watching dance. But in recent years, since a new team came onboard after Velocity lost its home in the old Oddfellows Building, it's been on-fire: growing ticket sales 348% over four years, launching Seattle artists onto the national stage, and garnering attention from around the country for its visionary leadership as an artist-led, community centered dance center.
