A.R.T.'s Re-Imagined Production of THE TEMPEST Will Now Play Smith Center Through 4/27

The Smith Center for the Performing Arts has now added a third and final week of performances for the world premiere of THE TEMPEST, which will now play April 6-27, with special preview performances April 1-4. The opening night celebration will take place on Saturday, April 5. Produced in association with the American Reparatory Theater (A.R.T.), THE TEMPEST is adapted and directed by Aaron Posner and Teller from the play by William Shakespeare, with magic by Teller, music by Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan and movement by Matt Kent of Pilobolus. THE TEMPEST will perform at The Smith Center's Donald W. Reynolds Symphony Park in a 500-seat climate-controlled tent. Tickets start at $35 for regular performances and $25 for preview performances. Tickets for the opening night celebration are $150 and include an exclusive post-show reception. All tickets are on sale now at The Smith Center box office, online at www.TheSmithCenter.com or by phone at (702) 749-2000.

In a guest house on the Gulf, a hundred miles from New Orleans, old friends gather in a summer home to rediscover connections, rekindle lost relationships, and find peace - only to find that they can't rewrite the stories of their past. The Antaeus Company, L.A.'s classical theater ensemble, presents The Autumn Garden by Lillian Hellman, directed by Larry Biederman. Four gala openings of the fully double-cast production, two with each cast, take place October 28-31, with performances continuing through December 19 at Antaeus' interim home, Deaf West Theatre in the NoHo Arts District. Low-priced previews begin October 22.

A fresh new interpretation of classic 'The Glass Menagerie,' Tennessee Williams' compelling saga of the Wingfield family in the 1940s and their struggle with illusion and reality. Tom, the son, is torn between his role as the family breadwinner and his desire to lead a life of his own; his mother, Amanda (played by Tony Award-winning Judith Ivey), is a former Southern belle trying to maintain her dignity and her control in the gloom of their St. Louis tenement; and Laura, his frail sister, has retreated to an imaginary world caring for her collection of glass animals. Into their lives comes Jim, the Gentleman Caller, who changes the family forever.
