Broken Nose Theatre to Present FROM WHITE PLAINS at Greenhouse Theater Center, Begin. 1/24

Broken Nose Theatre (BNT) is continues its second season with the Chicago Premiere of From White Plains, written by Michael Perlman - in collaboration with Aaron Rossini, Craig Wesley Divino, Karl Gregory, and Jimmy King, the actors in the original production - which from its initial run went on to receive the GLAAD Award for Best New Off-Off Broadway Play. Directed by BNT Ensemble Member Spenser Davis, From White Plains will run in the Downstairs Studio at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 North Lincoln Ave., January 24th - February 23rd. The show runs Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Preview performances are from January 24th - 26th and 29th - 30th, with Press Opening on January 31st. Raven Theatre's new play development series, called [Working Title], will present a fully staged workshop production of Floating, by New York-based playwright Eric Lane, Monday, November 4 through Wednesday, November 6, 2013. Floating was named finalist at PlayPenn's New Play Conference, Multi-Stages New Works Contest and Berkshire Playwrights Lab. Curtain times for all three performances will be 7:30 pm. Rachel Edwards Harvith will direct.

LiveWire Chicago Theatre 'gets technical' at VisionFest 5: Johnny 5 Is Alive, ten short plays inspired by technology's influence on society (or what happens when things short circuit). The fifth annual festival will be presented now through August 2, 2013 at INTUIT - The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art, 756 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago. Each play will be staged in a different area of the multi-room gallery, with drinking and mingling encouraged as audiences move from play to play. A fanfare by New York City trumpet stars, a premiere of newly discovered recordings from 1961 by Louis Armstrong, discussion of that music by dean of jazz critics Dan Morgenstern (who was there) and Armstrong House Museum Archivist Ricky Riccardi, a proclamation from NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg and a soul-food reception will comprise the free-to-the-public International Jazz Day party, today, April 30, co-hosted by the Louis Armstrong House Museum and the Jazz Journalists Association.

Broken Nose Theatre (BNT) will present the world premiere of Beautiful Broken, a new play by Artistic Director Benjamin Brownson, in the Upstairs Mainstage at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 North Lincoln Ave., March 22 - April 21. The Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire, Illinois, north of Chicago, has an enormous subscription base, deep pockets, a talented and experienced in-house design team and a film property to adapt that touches on a number of important, stage-worthy themes (military patriotism, family, nostalgia, a timely re-visit to accusations of communism in America, parenthood, mid-century entertainment history and censorship, both military and network). And the show's lawyers have acquired the rights to a Hit Parade of jukebox-musical-worthy tunes. But is that enough to make a new stage musical out of the 1991 film 'For The Boys'?
