This year's UK Theatre Awards winners were revealed today (Sunday 14 October) in a lunchtime ceremony at London's Guildhall.

The list of nominees has been announced for this year's UK Theatre Awards, the only nationwide awards to honour and celebrate outstanding achievements in theatre throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Metropolitan Maestro Carlo Rizzi's 2018-19 season includes Tosca and Mefistofele at the Met, Falstaff in Tokyo, a new production of Un ballo in maschera at Welsh National Opera and symphonic concerts in Japan, Italy and Spain

 American Lyric Theater concludes the 10th Anniversary of its nationally acclaimed Composer Librettist Development Program this season with InsightALT: Opera in Eden, a one-night-only concert featuring three new one-act operas written by ALT Resident Artists, hosted by composer/librettist Mark Adamo and producing artistic director Lawrence Edelson.

At the Deutsche Oper Berlin on Saturday night, David Pountney, director of CAV/PAG saddled these beloved works with a concept so profound in its stupidity that it was often mind-blowing and jaw-dropping in its inanity. If there is a special club in Hell exclusively for bad stage directors, Mr. Pountney has earned a lifetime membership.

The new production of Puccini's TOSCA will be a reconstruction of the original production from Rome in 1900, conducted by the Israeli Opera's master-conductor - Maestro Daniel Oren, who is also conducting the production of Verdi's UN BALLO IN MASCHERA. Verdi's colourful opera - UN BALLO IN MASCHERA will be directed by world renowned Mical Znaniecki and conducted by Daniel Oren.

Welsh National Opera presents a feast of Italian operas from three of the greatest composers for its Spring season in Bristol. The season, entitled Rabble Rousers, will feature a new production of Verdi's La forza del destino alongside revivals of Puccini's Tosca and Mozart's Don Giovanni.

A season filled with unforgettable music, thrilling singers from around the world, and stirring new productions goes on sale via subscription Wednesday, February 7 at 10am.  Seven new and new-to-Chicago productions, including four Lyric premieres, will engage and entertain audiences from October 2018 through June 2019.

Lyric Opera of Chicago's new production of Wagner's Die Walk re opens Wednesday, November 1. The famous Ride of the Valkyries music will exhilarate first-time and experienced audiences alike, as will the many powerful and poignant dramatic developments and musical motifs interwoven throughout this epic opera.

Can Opera be for everyone? Steve Speirs (Alan in Stella) wasn't sure but since joining the Welsh National Opera company he wants to dispel the myth and encourage a new audience to experience opera.

This autumn, Welsh National Opera return to Birmingham Hippodrome with a major presentation of three epic Russian-themed works which marks the centenary of the Russian Revolution.

American Lyric Theater presents The New Crew, a salon including performances by and discussions with American Lyric Theater's newest Resident Artists in the Composer Librettist Development Program: composers Shuying Li, Andy Teirstein, and Liliya Ugay; librettists Lorene Cary, Julian Crouch, and Lila Palmer; and dramaturg Antigoni Gaitana.

This autumn, Welsh National Opera return to Bristol Hippodrome with two Russian-themed operas which mark the centenary of the Russian Revolution.  Performing from 15 - 18 November, the Company will bring its productions of Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin and Jana?ek's From the House of the Dead, based on the book by Dostoevsky to the city.
