Juilliard Features Fourth Year Actors in THE SEAGULL, 12/9

Juilliard's Drama Division announced the complete schedule for its 2010-2011 season of fully-staged productions featuring students in their fourth and final year of acting training at Juilliard. This season's plays include Lorraine Hansberry's A RAISIN IN THE SUN, directed by Jade King Carroll, October 20-24; David Auburn's PROOF, directed by Harris Yulin, November 11-15; and Chekhov's THE SEAGULL, directed by Richard Feldman, December 9-13.

Jeffrey Tambor Joins Harvey Fierstein in LA CAGE AUX FOLLES

Six-time Emmy Award nominee Jeffrey Tambor ('Arrested Development,' 'The Larry Sanders Show') will make his Broadway musical debut as Georges opposite four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein as Albin in the Tony Award-winning revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. Tambor and Fierstein will begin performances on Tuesday, February 15 at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street). Five-time Emmy Award winner Kelsey Grammer and 2010 Tony Award winner Douglas Hodge, the current stars of LA CAGE, will play their final performance on Sunday, February 13.

David Mamet Lends His Voice to THE SIMPSONS, 1/23

According to EW.com, Tony Award-winning playwright David Mamet will be lending his voice to THE SIMPSONS for an episode in which he will playing an animated version of himself. In the episode, Mamet is 'a writer on Thicker Than Waters, a hokey '80s family sitcom that Homer becomes obsessed with. In a scene that winks at Mamet's penchant for using profanity, Homer winds up watching a documentary about the fictional comedy, which features old footage of Mamet getting an earful from one of the Thicker actors.'

The Broadway production of David Mamet's A Life in the Theatre, starring Patrick Stewart and T.R. Knight closed on November 28, 2010. The show opened on October 12th at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. Its limited engagement was scheduled to play through January 2nd, 2011. Now back home in London, Patrick Stewart spoke to the UK Independent about what he calls 'extraordinarily difficult' ticket sales, saying that he knows of 'between eight and a dozen other productions imminently facing the axe.' Stewart went on to say that ' London is now 'the capital of theatre'. He explained: 'There is always a huge choice that is constantly available and revivals too. There is a theatre-going habit which is really entrenched in this country.'
