Westport Country Playhouse will present a Script in Hand playreading of the romantic comedy, “Maytag Virgin,” written and directed by southern regionalist Audrey Cefaly, on Monday, August 21, at 7 p.m. The play was voted “Best Comedy” in Atlanta by artsATL.com in 2018.

The New York Dance and Performance Awards, the Bessies, has announced the 2023 award recipients at the 39th Bessie Awards Ceremony. The Illustrious Blacks hosted this year's celebratory event, which was held at Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park as part of Lincoln Center's Summer for the City. Westport Country Playhouse's board of trustees have announced that director, playwright, and actor Mark Shanahan has been named as incoming artistic director for the 2024-25 season. He will officially assume the artistic director position in March 2024. Currently, Shanahan is curator of the Playhouse's Script in Hand playreading series.

Annie, is a musical based off of the 1924 comic book Little Orphan Annie written by Harold Gray. The musical features music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and features a book written by Thomas Meehan.

Westport Country Playhouse will present a Script in Hand playreading of “Agatha Christie’s The Murder of Roger Ackroyd” on Monday, June 12, at 7 p.m.  From the novel by Agatha Christie, the cunning tale of murder and deception is a brand new adaptation for the stage by Mark Shanahan, who will also direct. This summer, the Alley Theatre in Houston will stage the play’s world premiere production.

Mercury Theatre has announced the full cast for their upcoming production of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations. Adapted by Gale Childs Daly, McBryde directs Stanton Wright as Pip, alongside Bessy Ewa, Jim Fish, Gareth Kennerley, Sam Lupton and Emily Pollet.

After two years of record-breaking sales, Mercury Theatre today announce their new pantomime for Christmas 2023, Sleeping Beauty, which is now on sale.  The production will star pantomime royalty and Mercury Theatre regulars Antony Stuart-Hicks and Dale Superville.

'For a Moment in Time' will have a debut reading for producers on March 17 at the Garry Marshall Theater in Burbank, California.
