Village Theatre Announces New Village Originals Writers Residency for Musical Theatre Writers

Village Theatre's Village Originals program, under the leadership of Associate Artistic Director Brandon Ivie, has announced the new Village Originals Writers Residency aimed at developing new musicals from their earliest stages. New York writing team Danny Larsen and Michelle Elliott, Seattle-based composer Orlando Morales, and local collaborators Kirsten deLohr Helland, Justin Huertas, and Sara Porkalob will make up the inaugural group of resident writers.

Based on the popular book series by Kelly DiPucchio, this hour-long musical teaches us that everyone has a 'ghoul-mate' out there! Love will rise from the dead just in time for Valentine's Day. Zombie in Love runs tonight, February 4th, through February 13th, 2016 at Walnut Street Theatre.

University of Washington alum Brandon Ivie will direct the second annual production of the newly established Musical Theater Program at the University of Washington. The production, THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, will unite working professionals like Ivie and musical director Jordyn Meeker with undergraduates enrolled in the program.
Jake Robards to Lead NYC Premiere of PROMISING at Beckett Theatre

InProximity Theatre Company will present the NYC premiere of PROMISING, written by Michelle Elliott and directed by Terry Berliner. PROMISING begins performances on Saturday, November 14 for a limited engagement through Saturday, December 5. Opening Night is Wednesday, November 18 at 8 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday at 7 PM; Wednesday - Friday at 8 PM; Saturday at 2 PM & 8 PM; Sunday at 3 PM. Please note, there are added Wednesday matinee performances on November 25 and December 2 at 2 PM; there is no performance on Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 26). Prospect Theater Company has announced the cast of By The Numbers, a part of the company's new IGNITE Series at The Times Center, featuring today's new voices shaping the future of musical theater. This one-night-only concert event will be Saturday, June 27th at 8pm. The evening features the world premiere performance of 12 'micro-musicals' created in Prospect's 2015 Musical Theater Lab. Each of these original, hot-off-the-presses musical theater shorts runs under seven minutes, and has been inspired by a number -- one through twelve -- creating a song cycle collectively written over the lab's month-long time span by participating composers & lyricists.
