BET Networks is excited to reveal this year's "BLACK GIRLS ROCK!" 2015 celebrants

On March 16, 2015, the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle announced its winners and special awards for excellence in Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura County theater in the year 2014. Announcements were made at a ceremony held at the Beyond the Stars Palace in Glendale, hosted by Dixie Longate (Dixie's Tupperware Party) with musical direction by Corey B. Hirsch (LADCC award winner for A Man of No Importance in 2014).

Yesterday, February 25, author and six-time Tony Award-winning producer Stewart Lane (La Cage aux Folles, A Gentleman's Guide…, War Horse), was joined by Tony Award winning actress Leslie Uggams (Hallelujah Baby!, On Golden Pond, Thoroughly Modern Millie, King Hedly II), and acclaimed director Sheldon Epps (Baby It's You!, Blues in the Night), for a conversation with Tom Santopietro (The Godfather Effect…, Considering Doris Day, Sinatra in Hollywood) at Barnes & Noble, 150 East 86th Street, to discuss the inspiring account of the tumultuous path that black actors have traveled to reach recognition on the Great White Way. This special Black History Month event celebrates the release of Lane's new book Black Broadway: African Americans on The Great White Way.

On the heels of record-breaking theatrical engagements in Boston and Los Angeles, THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL continues to be showered with acclaim, with the Lifetime telefilm earning three NAACP Image Awards when the prestigious awards were handed out on February 5th.

The winners of the '46th NAACP Image Awards' were announced last night during the live broadcast from Pasadena Civic Auditorium which aired on TV One (9-11 p.m. ET live/PT tape-delayed). The unparalleled Grammy Award-winning artist Roberta Flack brings her sterling voice to Pepperdine University's Smothers Theatre tonight, February 6 at 8 p.m.

Raven Theatre Company, currently performing the Chicago Premiere of Horton Foote's Dividing the Estate, is presenting a free screening of the new film version of The Trip to Bountiful, arguably Foote's best-known play. The film, which was produced by Lifetime Films and aired on Lifetime Television in 2014, reunited Cicely Tyson and Vanessa Williams in the lead roles they performed for the play's 2013 Broadway revival. That production and this film are significant in that African-Americans were cast in roles traditionally played by white actors throughout the piece's history as first a 1953 teleplay and stage play and the 1985 feature film as well as countless stage productions over the past 60 years.

Bounce TV (www.bouncetv.com), the nation's first-ever broadcast television network for African Americans, will honor Black History Month in February witha month-long programming tribute including some of the greatest African-American stories, motion pictures and performances of all-time.

The Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle has announced its nominations and special awards for excellence in Los Angeles and Orange County theatre for the year 2014 (Dec. 1, 2013 - Nov. 30, 2014). The 46th Annual Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards ceremony will take place on Monday, March 16, 2015 at Beyond the Stars Palace, 417 N. Brand Boulevard in Glendale.

Mitchell S. Jackson is the Ernest J. Gaines Award Winner for 2014. Mr. Jackson, who won for his novel The Residue Years, will be honored at the Manship Theatre on Thursday, January 22, 2015. Find more information about the event HERE.
