The Apollo Theater today announced details for its largest fundraising event - the 2017 Apollo Spring Gala, which will take place at the theater on Monday, June 12 at 7pm.

Groundhog Day, the Olivier Award-winning new musical featuring music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and a book by Danny Rubin, and directed by Matthew Warchus, opened just last night on Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre.

The Off Broadway Alliance, the organization of Off Broadway producers, theaters, general managers, press agents and marketing professionals, presented the 6th annual Off Broadway Alliance Awards on June 21st at Sardi's, honoring outstanding achievement in Off Broadway theatre for the 2015 - 2016 season. Honorees were on hand to receive their awards and Anne Jackson & Eli Wallach, Anne Meara, and Elizabeth Swados were posthumously inducted into the Off Broadway Hall of Fame.  Last evening, the Apollo Theater celebrated its 11th Annual Spring Gala raising $1.7M for its year-round artistic and community programming initiatives.  The concert portion of the evening was hosted by LL COOL J, and opened with the dynamic dancing duo Laurent & Larry Bourgeois of Les Twins.  The concert also featured performances by legendary R&B group, The O'Jays including rousing version of Love Train, The Backstabbers, For the Love of Money and more.  Rising star vocalist, Leon Bridges brought the crowd to its feet with a performance of Mustang Sally and vocalist Andra Day performed her hit song City Burns,followed by a touching performance of Unforgettable in tribute to legendary songstress Natalie Cole. Host LL COOL J also joined DJ D-Nice for a tribute to Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest - one of several iconic artists lost in 2016. 

The Cecilia Chorus of New York, Mark Shapiro, Music Director will present Beethoven's Missa Solemnis, op. 123, Today, May 6 at 8:00 PM in Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, 57th Street and 7th Avenue in Manhattan.
