The Broadway Gala, California Musical Theatre's annual fund raising dinner, takes place on Saturday, May 2, starting at 6:00 p.m., at Sacramento Memorial Auditorium, 1515 J St. in Sacramento. The Black Tie Optional evening is filled with the glitz and glamour of Broadway, including dinner and hosted bar, musical entertainment and dancing, and a live auction. Memorial Auditorium will be elegantly decorated with a New York Broadway theme.

Lanford Wilson's 'Talley Trilogy' continues on the Aurora Theatre Company main stage with FIFTH OF JULY. Aurora Artistic Director Tom Ross (A Bright New Boise, This Is How It Goes, Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance, The Shape of Things) helms FIFTH OF JULY, featuring Craig Marker (The Shape of Things, The Persians), Elizabeth Benedict, John Girot, Jennifer Le Blanc, Oceana Ortiz, Harold Pierce, Josh Schell, and Nanci Zoppi. This two-man tour de force musical comedy mystery is killing it on stage at The Old Globe in San Diego - or, rather, it's killing someone - and that someone is none other than Great American Novelist, Arthur Whitney. Unfortunately, this is one birthday party the much-hated author will never get to enjoy since he takes a bullet to the head in the first few minutes of the musical with all of his guests in attendance.

California Musical Theatre announced a varied lineup of musicals for the 2015 season of Sacramento Music Circus at the Wells Fargo Pavilion, the 65th season for what has become a Northern California summer tradition. The summer lineup will include two classics that are Music Circus audience favorites, Lerner and Loewe's My Fair Lady and Leonard Bernstein, Arthur Laurents and Stephen Sondheim's West Side Story, as well as the Mississippi adventure Big River, the musical comedy Bye Bye Birdie, the magical journey Peter Pan, and a sixth show that will be offered as an option for season subscribers, the generation-defining Hair.

Casting has been announced for the return Sacramento engagement of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning hit musical JERSEY BOYS, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, playing at Community Center Theater, Nov. 5 - 22, 2014. The cast of JERSEY BOYS will be led by Nicolas Dromard (Tommy DeVito), Keith Hines (Nick Massi), Hayden Milanes (Frankie Valli) and Drew Seeley (Bob Gaudio) as The Four Seasons, with Barry Anderson and Thomas Fiscella.

What I found so utterly engaging about the world premiere of Steve Martin and Edie Brickell's new musical BRIGHT STAR is its complete unpretentiousness. Certainly its musical style --American bluegrass with a heaping helping of laid back mountain charm -- has the kind of lilting homespun ease that makes you feel like you're listening to the neighborhood jug band on mama's back porch, and there's something oddly comforting about that.

Steps Beyond announces another of its lively and informative Artists Talks with three 'Broadway Babies' who can rightly be called The Women of Fosse - Diane Laurenson, Dana Moore and Mimi Quillin. Laurenson and Moore have appeared in five Fosse shows between them - Sweet Charity, Chicago, Fosse, Dancin', and Big Deal, and Quillin performed in Sweet Charity and was also assistant to Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon. The Broadway veterans will share fascinating stories about the great choreographer, drawn from their personal experiences and highlighted by film clips, followed by a Q&A session and reception.
