The UK regional premiere production of Bruce Norris' acclaimed play CLYBOURNE PARK opens at Mercury Theatre Colchester's home base ahead of a national tour, starring Ben Deery (Karl / Steve), Dan Gaisford(Kenneth), Rebecca Manley (Bev / Kathy), Rebecca Oldfield (Betsey / Lindsey), Gloria Onitiri (Francine / Lena), Wole Sawyerr (Albert / Kevin), William Troughton (Jim / Tom) and Mark Womack (Dan / Russ). The production opens on 15 April as part of the Made in Colchester Season and runs until 23 April. Philadelphia Theatre Company presents the 2016 PTC@Play Festival of New Work celebrating the American playwright in Philadelphia on March 3-6 at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre.  The festival will present staged readings showcasing three new plays by national and local talent including new work by Mark St. Germain, Philadelphia playwright Sam Henderson, and playwright/performer Rinne Groff.  A new addition to PTC@Play will be an evening of short plays, all written and rehearsed within one twenty-four hour period.  All events are free. UC Irvine's Claire Trevor School of the Arts Department of Drama presents Bruce Norris' Clybourne Park, which was awarded the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and the 2012 Tony Award for Best Play. Written as a spin-off of Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun, it examines suburban racial tensions which occur in one Chicago house, 50 years apart. At the helm of Clybourne Park is guest director Leslie Ishii, a celebrated director, actor and arts educator, who is internationally recognized as a leader in the conversations surrounding equity, diversity, and inclusion in the American theatre. Ms. Ishii is excited to explore this rich and controversial work. (more...)
