LEAP OF FAITH, NEXT TO NORMAL, LES MIS & More Part of Ahmanson's 2010-11 Season

The 2010-2011 Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre season will include the world premiere of a new musical, 'Leap of Faith,' the 2010 Pulitzer Prize-winning musical 'Next to Normal,' the 2009 Tony Award-winning Best Play 'God of Carnage,' the 25th Anniversary celebration of an international musical classic, 'Les Misérables,' and a brand-new Cirque du Soleil production at the Cirque's new home at the Kodak Theatre, it was announced today by CTG's Artistic Director Michael Ritchie.

Tony Award nominee BRIAN D'ARCY JAMES will return to the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical Next to Normal for a special limited engagement beginning Monday, May 17 at 8:00p.m. Mr. d'Arcy James originated the role of Dan Goodman in the Second Stage Theatre off-Broadway production of the acclaimed musical. J. Robert Spencer, who was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in the role, will give his final performance on Sunday, May 16 at 7:30p.m.

Reprise Records will release The Original Broadway Cast Recording of American Idiot on April 20, 2010, the same day the show will open at the St. James Theatre in New York City. The official album features the 24-member cast accompanied by Green Day, marking another incredible collaboration between the band and the musical. Arizona Theatre Company's own Latino Playwriting Award-Winner, The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity by Kristoffer Diaz, was honored as a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The Pulitzer was awarded to Next to Normal, the Tony Award-winning rock musical by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey.

It was announced today that Rajiv Joseph's darkly comic 'Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo' has been named as a finalist for the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The Producers of Broadway's most acclaimed new musical, Next to Normal, announced today that a National Tour will launch in Los Angeles in November 2010. Performances at the Center Theatre GroupAhmanson Theatre will begin November 23 and run through January 2. Winner of three Tony Awards - Best Score, Best Actress in a Musical, and Best Orchestrations - Next to Normal features music by Tom Kitt, book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey, and direction by Michael Greif.

Monday's New York Times is reporting that Broadway's Next to Normal has joined the 25-30 percent of Broadway shows that have earned back the show's initial investment. The show marked it's one-year anniversary last night (Saturday) as it it prepares for a national tour that begins in November, producers announced that the show has earned back it's full $4 million in capitalization.
