Tony Award nominee Tony Sheldon (Priscilla Queen of the Desert) has joined the cast of the Encores! Special Event The Band Wagon in the role of Jeffrey Cordova, an egotistical British director. (Roger Rees, previously announced in the role, is no longer available.) The Band Wagon cast stars Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell, seven-time Emmy Award winner Tracey Ullman, Academy Award nominee Michael McKean, Tony Award nominee Laura Osnes, Tony Award nominee Michael Berresse and Don Stephenson. The Band Wagon will open on Sunday, November 8.

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts announced today that tickets are on sale for Broadway & Beyond at the Walt Disney Theater, a one-night-only variety show featuring luminaries from the Great White Way and beyond, including international music and dance performers. The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts is seeking an Orlando-based singer between the ages of 9-14 to perform in Broadway & Beyond at the Walt Disney Theater on November 15. The selected singer will make her debut in a solo number with an all-star, professional Broadway cast for the Grand Premiere of Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, Presented by Dr. Phillips Charities and Balfour Beatty Construction. The show is under the direction of renowned Broadway producer Richard Jay-Alexander and musical director Mary-Mitchell Campbell. Jay-Alexander will host the auditions with leaders from the Dr. Phillips Center.

David Yazbek has shown himself to be a Broadway composer-lyricist to be reckoned with, after a splashy debut with 2000's "The Full Monty," and a meaningful follow-up with 2005's "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels." Both film adaptations, they won Drama Desk Awards for him, as well as Tony nominations. 2010's "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown", also a film adaptation, was Tony-nominated for its score as well, though it suffered a truncated run of only 69 performances. Theatre at the Center in the Chicago suburb of Munster, Indiana, is the location for the show's world regional premiere.

Helaine Levy, Executive Director of the Diamond Family Philanthropies, will receive the Georgy Award from Arizona Theatre Company in recognition of the foundation's consistent support of ATC, her personal ongoing support of Tucson's not-for-profit community and her role in establishing the Non-Profit Loan Fund that assists not-for-profits with cash flow.

Barrington Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, welcomes the return of Drama Desk Award-winner Jim Brochu in his new show Character Man, following his wildly successful run of Zero Hour in 2011. A musical valentine celebrating the Golden Age of the American Musical, Character Man will be presented at BSC's St. Germain Stage at the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center from tonight, September 18 through 28. The press opening is Saturday, September 20 at 7:30pm.

In its first professional production since its Broadway debut, the musical comedy WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN makes its Chicago area premiere in a brand new production at Theatre at the Center, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, now through October 12, with a press opening on September 21.
