The movies, the pop culture, the music, the politics, everything that went on during that decade seems to be somehow extra unique or extra special, especially to those who lived during those times. The hair band glam rock of the 80s gets the musical treatment in Rock of Ages, now running at the Lyric Theatre's home on the Plaza.

Iceland in the 19th Century was not exactly an idyll; it was an island nation of farming and fishing communities, pretty much cut off from the much of the rest of the world. Crime was rare and capital crimes rarer still. So the country's criminal cases have become the stuff of legend, including the child rape case in Rifsaedasel of 1837, which is as infamous to Icelanders as The Manson Family is to Americans. Contemporary Icelandic playwright Hrafnhildur Hagalin revisits this infamous case with 'Guilty' (2014), a verse play that gracefully and provocatively examines issues of obsession and mercy which cling to it to this day.

The Public Theater announced today that The Public Theater's Annual Gala, HAIR TO HAMILTON, 50 Years of Revolutionary Musicals, will take place on Monday, June 5 at the Delacorte Theater.

These two are non-stop! Tonight, Brian D'Arcy James and James Monroe Iglehart join the Broadway cast of Hamilton. Iglehart will be playing the dual roles of Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson while James will be re-joining the show as King George.

In preparation for his April 14 return as King George III, Brian D'Arcy James recorded the pre-show message to the audience and posted a video to Instagram.

The musical HAMILTON's very first King George III, three-time Tony nominee Brian d'Arcy James, returns to the role for a limited engagement on Broadway starting April 14, it has been announced by HAMILTON producer Jeffrey Seller. Mr. James created the role of King George when HAMILTON debuted at the Public Theater in 2015.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Brian d'Arcy James will be joining the Broadway company of HAMILTON as King George, the role he originated but never got to play on Broadway due to conflicts with SOMETHING ROTTEN. 

Adapted and directed by artistic director Michael Baron, Lyric's A CHRISTMAS CAROL brings the beloved Christmas story to life with marvelous new designs to freshen up this holiday classic.
