Three-time Tony Award nominee Rebecca Luker and Chicago stars Amy Spanger & Amra-Faye Wright are part of the lineup for the free concert event Spotlight on Town Hall tonght, March 28 at 6pm. Hosted by NY1 Anchor Roma Torre, it will also feature performances from Smash star and Tony-nominee Jeremy Jordan, the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera (Samantha Hill & Kyle Barisich), Off-Broadway's Avenue Q (Veronica Kuehn & Hazel Anne Raymundo), The New York City Gay Men's Chorus and The Town Hall Broadway's Rising Stars Chorus.

Regina Carter and Nnenna Freelon will replace the previously announced Tony and Grammy winner Dee Dee Bridgewater in a December 14, 2013 concert celebrating the 90th birthdays of Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughan. The Royal Conservatory congratulates Ms. Bridgewater on her role in the upcoming off-Broadway production of Lady Day, in which she will portray legendary jazz singer Billie Holiday. The production begins September 12, which is the reason Ms. Bridgewater had to cancel her Conservatory appearance in December.

Landmark on Main Street has announced two new programs added to our 2012-13 Season Spring line-up: Paul Byrom (Celtic Thunder's "Swanky Tenor") on April 26 and Chris Mann who is best known for being a finalist on The Voice and for his recent PBS Special on May 3.

Tony and multiple Grammy Award-winner Dee Dee Bridgewater will star as one of the world's incomparable and legendary jazz artists --- Billie Holiday, in the celebrated musical 'Lady Day' opening Thursday, September 26th (6:30PM) at Times Square's Little Shubert Theatre (422 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues). Written and directed by Stephen Stahl, the musical will make its New York debut having been produced at the Theatre de Boulogne-Billancourt and Theatre du Gymnase Marie Bell in Paris as well as The Donmar Warehouse and The Piccadilly Theatre in London, where it received critical praise and garnered an Olivier 'Best Actress in a Musical' Award nomination for Ms. Bridgewater. Produced by Misty Road Productions the show's creative team also includes three-time Emmy Award winning composer & arranger Bill Jolly, who will serve as musical director. Preview performances are slated to begin Thursday, September 12th (8PM).

I had the pleasure of seeing Broadway vet Adam Pascal in concert at the Tilles Center on the Long Island University Post Campus. The cabaret style show was held in a separate, cute room to the side of the grand concert hall with a high stage and seating that reminded me of a mini half-stadium. He is currently touring in support of his latest album, Blinding Light, and is accompanied by the wonderfully talented Larry Edoff (they tour under the name Me and Larry).

Michael Pollack, a freshman at Vanderbilt University got the chance to accompany a living legend in January. During a Q & A session featuring legendary singer Billy Joel, Pollack stood up and told the singer, 'My favorite song of yours is 'New York State of Mind'...and I was wondering if I could play it with you.' Jim Witter will star in It's Still Rock 'n' Roll to Me accompanied by his band, for this multi-media rock musical that pays tribute to the '70s & '80s through the music of Billy Joel & Elton John on April 5 at 8 p.m.

Guild Hall, the visual and performing arts center on eastern Long Island, recently honored the recipients of the 28th Academy of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Awards: John Alexander for Visual Arts; Walter Isaacson for Literary Arts; Nathan Lane for Performing Arts and Mickey Straus, who received the Special Award for Leadership and Philanthropy. Marshall Brickman was the Master of Ceremonies with special guest presenters: Ken Auletta, Alec Baldwin, Jack O'Brien and Lorne Michaels. Wednesday night was the second of Marilyn Maye's first 54 Below run (which will continue until March 16) and she sashayed around the stage in front of an almost full house like a woman of 35. Like most of her shows, Maye's performance was a 'live' cabaret Master Class for budding cabaret performers and seasoned professionals alike, and this 'Maye-den Voyage' never went adrift (thanks in part to solid and unobtrusive support from Tedd Frith on piano, Tom Hubbard on bass, and Jim Eklof on drums).

After a highly successful bout on Broadway, Mike Tyson announced that he would take his acclaimed one-man show, 'Mike Tyson: UNDISPUTED TRUTH,' on a national tour. Helmed by renowned director Spike Lee and producer James L. Nederlander, the tour began in February 2013 and appears at the San Diego Civic Theatre tonight, March 5, 2013.
