Charing Cross Theatre has announced its second season, opening with the world premiere of THE MAN ON HER MIND, followed by the Olivier Award-winning OperaUpClose production of LA BOHEME, and concluding with the UK premiere of the 1969 Jerry Herman musical DEAR WORLD.
Betty Buckley to Star in London Revival of DEAR WORLD

Tony Award winner Betty Buckley will be playing the 'Madwoman of Chaillot,' the Countess Aurelia, in a London revival of Jerry Herman's DEAR WORLD at Charing Cross Theatre, according to Buckley's Facebook and Twitter pages. Rehearsals begin in December 2012 under the direction of Gillian Lynne, and the show is set to open in February 2013, running for eight weeks until the end of March.

Betty Buckley won a Tony Award for the role of Grizabella in Cats, starred as Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard, was a Tony nominee for Triumph of Love, and starred on TV's Eight is Enough, film's Tender Mercies and Carrie, and in many other memorable roles. When award-winning cabaret singer Suzanne Carrico & Broadway actress Joi Danielle Price both found themselves "in the family way," they did the only thing they could. They decided to spend their summer with GREAT EXPECTATIONS, for three every Sunday, beginning tonight, July 29 and continuing August 5 and 12, at Metropolitan Room. They will be accompanied on this musical journey through nine months of waiting, not by a midwife, but by Musical Director, Don Rebic, with Special Guest, Tracy Stark on the piano on August 5th and 12th.

Making good on his promise to eventually show up in Orange County to speak about his enduring career in the theater, legendary Broadway composer Stephen Sondheim finally made his long-awaited appearance at the Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa for the landmark event STEPHEN SONDHEIM: IN CONVERSATION on July 13. Back to provide live performances were Christine Ebersole and Brian Stokes-Mitchell, while ASCAP Musical Theater scholar Michael Kerker hosted the talk show/concert hybrid.

Patti LuPone Plays Provincetown Art House Tonight, 7/4

Patti LuPone won her second Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical, as well Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards, for her performance as Rose in the most recent Broadway production of Gypsy, and created the title role in Evita on Broadway with her now legendary performance, for which she won her first Tony and Drama Desk Awards. Today, July 4th and tomorrow, July 5th, she will make her Provincetown debut at The Art House, with Sirius/Radio star Seth Rudetsky at the piano, for 3 shows only.
