MEASURE FOR MEASURE Kicks Off Theatricum Botanicum's 2012 Summer Season, 6/2

Theatricum Botanicum's 2012 Summer Repertory Season will present four plays in repertory on its mainstage: Measure for Measure and A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare; Heartbreak House by George Bernard Shaw; and The Women of Lockerbie by Deborah Brevoort. In addition, Cherry Docs by David Gow will get six performances in Theatricum's intimate second performance space.

Irish Repertory Theatre and Gingold Theatrical Group announce a two-week extension of their co-production of Georger Bernard Shaw's masterpiece, MAN AND SUPERMAN, with performances now set to run through July 1 at the Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street), as part of Irish Rep's 24th Season and GTG's first-ever 'Shaw New York' festival. GTG's artistic director, David Staller, directs his adaptation of this remarkable comedy, performed with its rarely seen 'interior play' DON JUAN IN HELL.

The festival will be held May 30 - June 9 and will feature staged readings of new plays from four regional playwrights as well as nationally-renowned playwright Steven Dietz. Access Theater has presented a 3-week extension of Bedlam's critically acclaimed revival of George Bernard Shaw's rarely produced 1923 masterpiece SAINT JOAN. This Off-off-Broadway presentation marks the first time in 19 years that SAINT JOAN has been staged professionally in New York City. In this bold, environmental staging directed by Eric Tucker, Shaw's play is performed in its entirety using an ensemble of only four actors to play all 24 roles. The show plays its final performance at Access Theater in Tribeca tonight, May 13.

In the company's second installment of Big Story Small, eight "new" plays have been adapted by local writers and will perform three nights only, tonight May 10 and May 11, and 12 at 8pm at Theatre Off Jackson. The collection is staged with the assistance of puppets, shadows, a tiny orchard, animation, and more. Big Story Small is produced in association with Theatre Off Jackson.
