Just around the corner from Swing Street, these seasoned jazz performers come to Broadway's Nightclub to play and sing the night away in grand style. The Akron Civic Theatre will present Verb Ballets', Honoring Poll, tonight, March 8, 2013, at 8pm with intimate cabaret seating on stage at the historic theatre. The program will highlight the late choreographer Heinz Poll and his legacy through works created for the Ohio Ballet and features a new work by former Ohio Ballet dancer and ballet master, Richard Dickinson (Ohio Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Boston Ballet).

Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) (Jed Bernstein, Producing Director) has announced three visiting productions at the Playhouse this Spring: the international hit comedy My Mother's Italian, My Father's Jewish, and I'm in Therapy!, a one-man show by award-winning author Steve Solomon and starring Peter J. Fogel; A return engagement of In The Mood, a 1940s swing dance musical revue featuring the String of Pearls Big Band Orchestra and the In The Mood Singers; and legendary comedian David Steinberg's one man show: David Steinberg: Might Be Something Big…Might Not. In celebration of Black History month, Arts at The Park's artist-in-residence Deanna Witkowski will lead a trio (with bassist Linda Oh and drummer Willard Dyson) and a 12-voice choir of professional jazz vocalists (including Sara Serpa, Tammy Scheffer, Miles Griffith) in a performance of works by the preeminent African-American jazz pianist, composer, and innovator Mary Lou Williams (1910-1981) who broke through her era's significant barriers to women jazz musicians. The concert will take place tonight, February 20th at 8 pm at The Park Avenue Christian Church (known affectionately as 'the Park'), 1010 Park Avenue at 85th Street in Manhattan.

On October 4, 2013, The New York Pops orchestra - famous for presenting popular programs with a symphony orchestra of the highest quality - will launch its 31st season, a Carnegie Hall series celebrating the stylistic diversity of some of popular music's greatest icons. Music Director Steven Reineke - described by The New York Times as a 'polished, welcoming host' who is 'young and vigorous, with a playful attitude' - will lead the orchestra in a highly anticipated concert season including a night of jazz standards revitalized by international trumpet sensation Chris Botti; a tribute to big band legend Benny Goodman with Montego Glover and clarinetist Dave Bennett; a jolly holiday concert with stage star Ashley Brown; an intimate evening with Broadway's Golden Couple, Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley; and a season closer featuring the orchestra and some of the most beloved music written for the silver screen.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Patty Andrews, last surviving member of the acclaimed pop group the Andrews Sisters, died today, January 30, 2013. She was 94. Her sister Maxene died in 1995, and her sister LaVerne died in 1967.
