Ferdinand Kingsley will play both God and Jesus opposite Coronation Street villain Graeme Hawley, who takes on the role of the Devil, in the York Mystery Plays to be staged throughout August against the backdrop of the St Mary's Abbey, York. Kingsley and Hawley will be joined by over 2,500 people in the staging of what is believed to be the UK's biggest outdoor theatrical event of 2012. With over 1,700 local volunteers comprising the two casts of community ensemble, musicians, choir and crew, the York Mystery Plays run from 2 to 27 August.

Michael Riedel reports in today's New York Post that Lincoln Center Theater 'wants the Beaumont for its next big production - a revival of THE KING AND I starring Kelli O'Hara.' BroadwayWorld.com first reported back in 2011 that the theatre was considering a Bartlett Sher helmed revival of the classic show. Comedian Sacha Baron Cohen phoned in to the TODAY show this morning, disguised as Admiral General Aladeen, the character of his upcoming film, 'The Dictator', and responded to the Academy Awards' threat to keep him from attending Sunday night's event if he showed up on the red carpet in character.

According to the NY Post, representatives from the Academy Awards have warned comedian Sacha Baron Cohen that if he shows up for this Sunday's Oscars dressed as General Aladeen, the character from his upcoming comedy THE DICTATOR, he will be banned from the show.
