Mauckingbird Theatre Company, now in its 10th season presenting professional gay-themed theater, brings a benefit concert of new LGBTQ compositions to Philly. Funny. Political. Satirical.

Loosely patterned after 'an audition process', this 11th annual fully produced event is geared to discovering new talent between the ages of 18 and 32 for the musical theatre stage. This year once again the contest is generously sponsored/presented by Princess Cruises. As has become the standard, approximately 20 contestants compete for the title, a $2500 cash prize, a headlining engagement at Sterling's Upstairs at the Federal during the New Year, professional representation in the business of  musical theatre, and other valuable prizes. To date, over a dozen former contestants have already made their Broadway and/or Off-Broadway debuts; while nearly another 100 have either starred in Broadway U.S. National Tours; Regional U.S. Musical Theatre productions; Las Vegas Hotel sit-downs of Broadway Musicals; on board in lavish production shows presented by some of the world's most prestigious cruise lines; or have starred on stages at numerous Southern California Theme Parks such as Disneyland's California Adventure and Lego Land. Internationally, Tokyo Disney is also host to Stage Star talent. 

The Henegar Center announced casting for It Shoulda Been You, a musical comedy. Under the direction of Hank Rion, It Shoulda Been You will play January 13 - 29, 2017 on The Henegar Center main stage.

O'Connell & Company, the professional theatre in residence at The Park School of Buffalo, presents this hit Broadway musical comedy for its WNY Premier, IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU - Book and Lyrics Brian Hargrove, Music and Concept Barbara Anselmi, onstage January 26 through February 26, 2017.

As announced earlier today, Broadway veteran Mamie Parris will assume the iconic role of 'Grizabella the Glamour Cat' in the first-ever Broadway revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's CATS. Parris, who currently stars as 'Patty' in Andrew Lloyd Webber's newest smash hit School of Rock - The Musical, will succeed pop star Leona Lewis in the role. Get to know Parris with clips from some of her performances below!

The Drama League announced today that Tony and Emmy Award winner David Hyde Pierce will be the honoree of the 33rd Annual Musical Celebration of Broadway, to be held on Monday evening, November 7, 2016 at The Plaza (768 Fifth Avenue) in New York City.

The New York Musical Festival (NYMF) presented the Women of Note concert series, celebrating female, queer and trans artists who are changing the landscape of musical theatre, on Monday, August 1 at The Duke on 42nd Street. Featuring dynamic sounds and incredible performers, this one-night-only concert event showcased even more artists than last year in two back-to-back performances. Gretna Theatre is excited to announce that iconic daytime serial actress Kim Zimmer will take the Gretna Theatre stage in It Shoulda Been You. She assumes the role of Judy Steinberg, which was originated by Tyne Daley in the Broadway production.

Prospect Theater Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Cara Reichel and Managing Director Melissa Huber, presents ARCHETYPE, a collection of six new mini-musicals, the culminating production of Prospect's 2016 Musical Theater Lab (the company's 10th lab production). ARCHETYPE will play from July 27 - 31 at The Theater at the 14th Street Y (344 East 14th Street @ 1st Ave., NYC).
