SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE, STONEFACE & More Included in Pasadena Playhouse's 2013-14 Season

The Pasadena Playhouse (Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director and Elizabeth Doran Executive Director) announced their 2013-2014 season today. The season will include a revival of the longest-running Broadway musical revue, Smokey Joe's Cafe featuring the musical masterpieces of the legendary team of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller; Stoneface: The Rise and Fall and Rise of Buster Keaton, by Vanessa Claire Stewart and starring French Stewart ('3rd Rock From the Sun') which enjoyed a successful run at Sacred Fools Theatre Company this past summer; Above the Fold a new drama by Bernard Weinraub, about the world of journalism in the digital age, which received a HOTHOUSE at The Playhouse staged reading in 2012; Noel Coward's rarely produced A Song at Twilight, directed by Art Manke, who recently directed The Playhouse's hit revival of Coward's Fallen Angels; and a theatrical surprise production that will be selected and directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Sheldon Epps, to be announced at a later date. Panto at The Playhouse returns with Lythgoe Family Productions' special musical twist on the classic Aladdin tale, which will be offered as a holiday season add-on. The 2013-2014 Season begins September 2013.
Rehearsals Begin for CENTERSTAGE's THE RAISIN CYCLE

This spring CENTERSTAGE presents two landmark plays, each a response to the legacy of Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun: the Baltimore Premiere of the award-winning Clybourne Park by Bruce Norris, and the World Premiere of CENTERSTAGE Artistic Director Kwame Kwei-Armah's Beneatha's Place. The two plays will be produced in rotating repertory as The Raisin Cycle, using a single company of actors and a shared design team, under the direction of Derrick Sanders.

humRumbleROAR Productions has announced the world premiere production of Chisa Hutchinson's ALONDRA WAS HERE, directed by Jade King Carroll. ALONDRA WAS HERE will play a limited engagement at The Wild Project (195 East 3rd Street, NYC). Performances begin Saturday, May 4 and continue through Saturday, May 18. Opening Night is Wednesday, May 8 (7 p.m.).

Beginning today, March 15, 2013, Green Dot Public Schools and Watts Village Theater Company will combine their talents for the second year in a row to prove how much talent is locked away within their community and how the arts can help to bring the students out of their shells and better their environment. After the success of the 2012 production of Simply Maria or the American Dream by Josefina Lopez, the team decided to raise the stakes and make yet another bold step forward with UNLockeD.

Signature Theatre has announced the seven productions for the 2013-14 Season at the company's Frank Gehry-designed Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Trustus Theatre's Off-Off Lady Series is a collection of productions chosen to go out into the community and bring quality performances to unexpected venues around Columbia, and Trustus is continuing the series by partnering with The NiA Company and the Columbia Music Festival Association (CMFA). Matthew Lopez's stirring script The Whipping Man comes to life at CMFA tonight, March 12th at 7:30pm, and runs through March 22nd, 2013.
