CPCC Theatre will perform August Wilson's "Fences" this spring on the Pease Auditorium stage
as part of Sensoria, a weeklong celebration of the arts.

This sensational Pulitzer Prize winning drama will take audience members back in time to the 1950s, when the African-American experience was evolving and race relations were a concern.

The story follows Troy Maxson, a former star of the Negro baseball leagues who now works as a garbage man in 1957 Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, Troy is excluded as a black man from the major leagues during his prime, and his bitterness takes its toll on his relationships with his wife and his son, who now wants his own chance to play ball.

"Fences" is an extremely powerful production that explores race, mortality, family and dreams, and contains mature themes and subject matter.

Tickets are $16 and may be purchased online at tix.cpcc.edu; at the CPCC Box Office from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday - Friday; or by calling 704.330.6534.
