The Palm Springs International Film Society's Short Fest will debut a new documentary - "Hollywood In The Desert Sky; A Conversation With Photographer Michael Childers" on June 18 at 2:00 pm at The Camelot Theatres in Palm Springs. "All my life I've been photographing some of the great artists of my time," says Childers. Internationally renowned for his portraits of pop culture icons, Childers spent a lifetime of collecting art with the late John Schlesinger, Oscar-winning director of "Midnight Cowboy" and many other films of note including "Marathon Man" and "The Falcon and the Snowman." They were partners for 37 years and that life culminated in an art collection that filled their Rancho Mirage home.

After a nostalgic 25th anniversary in 2013, the Toronto Fringe is looking to the future with exciting new programming, brand new customer services and a roster of 1,100+ genre-bending, innovative, thoughtful and (frequently!) wacky indie theatre artists. The message is clear: Don't Just Stand There… SEE SOME THEATRE. It's a call to action to diehard theatre fans and theatre newcomers alike. Mass Live Arts, a summer festival of contemporary and experimental performing arts, returns for its second year to Bard College at Simon's Rock in the Berkshires, July 7 - 26. This year's festival presents three New England Premieres of critically-acclaimed, new and remounted works by choreographer Faye Driscoll, theater artists Sibyl Kempson and Mike Iveson Jr, along with two media based performances by director Phil Soltanoff.

The LakeArts Foundation will present the World Premiere of TROPHIES, a unique collaborative performance piece that blends sculptural masks by Roland Gebhardt, choreography by Mercedes and music by Moondog, performed live by HalfMoon Consort, under the direction of Louis Nicolia. It will be performed on June 26 at Jack Hanley Gallery.

In November, 2013, a painting by Warhol sold for $105.4 million a record for the famed pop artist and the second-most expensive piece of art ever auctioned, according to the Sotheby's auction house. That same month, another iconic Warhol work sold for $57.2 million at Christie's. On view at the Museum of Arts and Design from May 13 to September 14, 2014, Multiple Exposures: Jewelry and Photography is the first museum exhibition to examine how contemporary jewelry artists are using photography to explore issues central to contemporary experience, including changing views of beauty and the human body; social, political, and cultural issues; memory and desire; and the relationship of jewelry to society and personal identity.

Designed by architect Richard Meier, the column-free exhibition space spans 50,000 square feet. The inaugural expositionwill run from today, May 10 to August 1 and will feature works with a market value of over $10 million, signaling a new commercial endeavor at Mana Contemporary. Mana Exposition will also embody Mana Contemporary's goal of fostering a sense of community in the art industry, andwillencourage artists to realize monumental works to exhibit and sell.

Symphony Space's annual Spring Festival has become one of the season's most keenly awaited events. This year's installment, Sleeping Around: The Cultural Lives of New York's Hotels, may be the most provocative yet. Running from April 26 to May 21, the monthlong festival celebrates New York's landmark hotels, their occupants, and the lengendary boites that nurtured and sustained the evergreen songs and performers of cabaret. Sleeping Around also credits New York's hotels as incubators for film, classical music, and literature, with programs devoted to Andy Warhol, Virgil Thomson, and Dorothy Parker.

In celebration of a major gift to its collection of more than 100 portraits created by master photographer Yousuf Karsh (1908-2002), the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery is installing a special exhibition on the first floor of the museum, 'Yousuf Karsh: American Portraits.' This is the second of two installations and will run from today, May 2 through Nov. 2. A press preview for this installation will be held May 1 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Estrellita Karsh, Karsh's wife, will be in attendance.
