New York Live Arts today announced further programming details for the suite of all-new world premiere works created by 2012-2014 Resident Commissioned Artist(RCA) Kyle Abraham, including a fourth, previously unannounced ensemble work. Exploring two totemic triumphs in the international history of the civil rights, the 150 year anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 20 year anniversary of the abolishment of apartheid in South Africa, the works feature visual design by acclaimed conceptual artist Glenn Ligon and original music performed live by world renowned jazz artist Robert Glasper, accompanied by two musicians and a vocalist.

Today OZ, Nashville's first contemporary arts center, announces its 2014-15 season, which runs September 12, 2014 - June 27, 2015. The season is bookended by premieres, beginning with two performances (September 12 & 13) of Tim Robbins' interpretation of A Midsummer Night's Dream, produced and acted by the company he founded and leads, The Actors' Gang, in the production's first U.S. engagement outside of the company's home theater in Los Angeles. OZ's 2014-15 program will conclude with the world premiere (June 18-20) of Memory Rings, the latest multi-media stage production from innovative New York City-based puppetry collective Phantom Limb Company.

Beginning October 31, 2014, the Jewish Museum will present Helena Rubinstein: Beauty Is Power, the first museum exhibition to explore the ideas, innovations, and enduring influence of the legendary cosmetics entrepreneur Helena Rubinstein (1872-1965). By the time of her death, Rubinstein had risen from humble origins in small-town Jewish Poland to become a global icon-the head of a cosmetics empire extending across four continents. She was the first modern self-made woman magnate, an avatar of female entrepreneurship, and a tastemaker in the worlds of art, fashion, and design.

The LakeArts Foundation will present the World Premiere of TROPHIES, a unique collaborative performance piece that blends sculptural masks by Roland Gebhardt, choreography by Mercedes and music by Moondog, performed live by HalfMoon Consort, under the direction of Louis Nicolia. From today, June 25 to August 1, The Kitchen will present The Rehearsal, a group exhibition in which Courtesy the Artists, Discoteca Flaming Star and Georgia Sagri revisit an unreleased film by blacklisted, American film maker Jules Dassin. Filmed 40 years ago in the building that is now The Kitchen, Dassin's film, also tilted The Rehearsal, is a cinematic indictment of the Greek military junta (1967-74) and features Dassin, his wife, Greek actress Melina Mercouri, along with Laurence Olivier, Olympia Dukakis, Arthur Miller and Lillian Hellman, among others. For this exhibition, the artists will engage the themes, resonances and Brechtian structures of Dassin's work placing them in conversation with recent narratives of collective action for autonomy on the global stage.

From today, June 24 to October 13, 2014, Madrid is to host the largest retrospective held to date on the British artist Richard Hamilton. The exhibition, organized by the Reina Sofía, was designed specifically for the Madrid museum by Hamilton himself, who became directly involved with the work when he visited the city in the early months of 2010.

The Palm Springs International Film Society's Short Fest will debut a new documentary - 'Hollywood In The Desert Sky; A Conversation With Photographer Michael Childers' today, June 18 at 2:00 pm at The Camelot Theatres in Palm Springs. 'All my life I've been photographing some of the great artists of my time,' says Childers. Internationally renowned for his portraits of pop culture icons, Childers spent a lifetime of collecting art with the late John Schlesinger, Oscar-winning director of 'Midnight Cowboy' and many other films of note including 'Marathon Man' and 'The Falcon and the Snowman.' They were partners for 37 years and that life culminated in an art collection that filled their Rancho Mirage home.
